The game is actually rather good (if a touch on the easy side) it just suffers from the same problem Invisible War had in that it has some big boots to fill. Currently it's a patch or two and an expansion away from being a great game, and I'm rather looking forward to the arrival of the latter, though given Blizzard's record I may have a very long beard by that time.
Still, in the meantime it's fun.

Oops I think Faetal was replying to a most of mine that I deleted.
Basically saying that at £45, even setting DRM issues aside, D3 doesn't look all that enticing given how I actually find D2 kind of dull.

I wanted to reply to your deleted post too. Basically I think I've burnt out on the action RPG template with Diablo 2; Titan Quest was addictive enough in a superficial way, but it also felt really empty. Same with the Diablo 3 beta, although I liked the atmosphere a lot. I think I might get this at some point down the road, once it's cheaper and patched to higher stability, but it's definitely not a must-buy.

heh okay I'll repost what I was saying before.
Basically was replaying D2 lately and found I was getting bored of running through endless fields and dungeons spamming the same 2 or 3 spells. (and if you diversify too much, that just means a weaker character)
I played it plenty, back in the day, I found it pretty addictive. Now I find, well, it is still addictive. But at some point "must finish dungeon" becomes "come on dungeon, END" and I wonder why I'm still making myelf play. Like Thirith says, it's rather empty.
I had the same problem with Titan quest. After a few hours it was just shoot lightning, collect gold, run into next field, shoot some more lightning. Click click click. Actually its worse than Diablo as it makes even less of an attempt at quests or story.
I think I'm just losing interest in this action-RPG business in the first place.
So anyway I'm not in a huge rush to play D3 until it drops to half its current price. I am interested to hear that you can freely respec characters, tho, as that sounds like it would provide some much-needed variety without starting from scratch.

Titan Quest is quite anodyne, but it's also like crack.
