I hardly think that Divine Divinity was a Diablo clone chief. It's more of an Ultima clone if anything.
Did you play past the mid-way point?
;)
To be fair, Ultima was an obvious inspiration, and I think the devs said as much.
Too bad the second half of the game was reduced to simple hack & slash after such a strong start.

..and none of those countless clones could hold the candle, not even Divine Divinity, Sacred or Titan Quest, which were about the best efforts.
Reasons as to why they failed include subpar online gameplay services (bnet actually works) and completely static worlds.

Actually, fuck Diablo 3. Gimme a new Blackthorne.

The very flash-heavy (
http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/) website has some really great artwork and trailer and gameplay videos as well.
As a Diablo fan, I like almost every bit of it, except a slight WoW cartoony look which is slowly getting on my nerves :(

It's only one gameplay trailer, but the waves of surrounding enemies look annoying as fuck. :erg:

Are you crazy, it looks amazing!
But yeah I stand with Briareos here, it looks very promising (well, very Diablo) apart from the annoying cartoony characters. Although I did find it really funny how they said what an important part of environment will be in Diablo 3 and then showed the character opening the chests by clicking, certainly a dramatic development in interactivity. Well they do seem to have stolen the pre-placed physics traps from Dark Messiah.

I am more curious how Blizzard haxed my flashblock.

It looks like you have a skill bar now, instead of one skill for left and right click. I wonder what right click is going to do now? So far I think it looks pretty good though.

* Koki puts shit-tinted glasses on.
Well, the skill reset or hovewer it's called is a joke.
So are the blood orbs, unless they drop only from minibosses and bosses.

Apparently every time you get a scratch, the next enemy drops a floating heart that restores your health to 100%.
It's not a game if you can't lose.
