I still haven't figured out how a spearazon was meant to take on Diablo and live short of switching to javazon for the whole fight, which is kind of defeating the purpose.
Edit for disclaimer: of course, I may just have been completely shit at being a spearazon.

Few hours into torchlight, experimented with the destroyer and the thiefy chick.
Impression so far: I'm playing Microsoft Excel.
EDIT: Question - is the only difference between the characters their skill tree? Can I turn my long range theify gal into a melee jaggernaut if I pump enough into strength? Or can I make my destroyer an avid spellcaster if I start investing in magic? Or are there any inherent character atributes that would not make it optinal (doesnt seem so).
Also, in the skill descriptions, I often see something like my strength/dex/magic icon and "50%" or "100%" next to it - what does it mean? I thought it shows how each stat influences it, but pumping extra points into said stat doesn't seem to change any of the numbers. Or is it like "base damage" a given skill deals (i.e. 50% of my strength) ??
EDIT2: Also, I tried fishing like 30 times and I always get nothing. What gives?

You can't. Each class has its own unique tree. A mage won't be able to learn the cool melee skills, and you won't be able to learn any of the "spells" that a mage has access to. Attributes determine damage type with specific weapons, what you can use, and health.
To succeed at fishing, you have to click the button at exactly the right time so that both circles are aligned.
And for all the torchlight haters:
Its Torchlight 2 for me. Exactly how the fuck am I supposed to play Diablo 3 when I have no way of hooking up my personal laptop to the internet?

How are you posting then? And why can't you connect with your laptop?
I predict a stupid reason.

So it seems. Spearazon is just another melee class in D2, so why would Diablo be suddenly impossible to defeat?

pretty sure he said before that he can use the Web via some of the computers at his current deployment but that connecting personal gear was a no-no.
