Um, Starcraft 2 is a game with 3 armies, and you get to play 1 of them in singleplayer, with the other 2 being obvious thought-of-in-advance expansions. That's not even comparable to Diablo II, which had a full singleplayer experience with all of the shipped classes from day 1.

You get to play two of them, not to mention that you can play all of them in skirmish or coop vs ai, and multiplayer.
Equally much I could say they left out two classes for the expansion, not to mention the whole rune system, and the entire ending of the game in diablo2.
Edit: the issue at hand was that the whole game was a full game design around the terran campaign, there wasn't any finished protoss or zerg campaign to ship with the game had they wanted to, it was a singleplayer-campaign centered around terran, but it was a full length campaign.

Well, diablo2 released at full price being only 1/2 of a game.
1/3 of the game actually. Probably my biggest issue with Diablo 2 is how you need to finish the game three times to actually reach the endgame.
What bullshit.
"To be a spellcaster in Diablo 1 and 2 was to spend every spare point on mana regeneration skills, and single-handedly prop up the local potion industry."
Stopped reading there. lol, gaming journalism.

So you're depriving yourself of a game you wanted to get for ideological reasons that won't ever make a difference?
Derp, no. Because requiring a persistent connection is a real potential problem which could affect actual playability of SP for me. Broadband internet is notoriously shit in NZ, very slow speeds compared to the rest of the Western world, also local ISPs generally offer pretty small monthly data caps.
I'm fine with the occasional phone home, but having it to be Always-on when all I want to play is SP? Fuck off.
I don't see why they can't give player's the choice. If you want to play on Bnet, have an entirely server-side character stored in a cloud and if you wanted to play in both MP parties and solo with that same character, it'd the equivalent of playing in a locked private lobby. Also offer a 100% client-side character, which absolutely doesn't work online.

This. Seems like a good solution to the problem. (Not sure how it'd be inforced though. Hmm.)
Koki on 4/8/2011 at 05:59
Maybe the same way it was enforced in Diablo 2?

Its also a game that I can't play because it demands that I connect my laptop to the internet to re-authenticate the game, and that is something that its very much impossible out here.

Its also a problem for those of us who have no such thing an internet connection that we can hook our personal computers up to.

Clearly, a modern-day RPG with an isometric-perspective camera* is a sign of fucking pathetic technology.
