I don't even really care about the game and I want one too.

All this talk about the split of Starcraft 2 has apparently allowed this to slip by, which I just came across.

Fans of map hacking and other Diablo II modifications have little to look forward to with the sequel,
as Wilson shot down any talk of mod support."We don't have a lot of plans to do that. It would make our lives so much harder" he said, adding that despite the fact that he and many other designers got their start in modding, the team takes a strong stance on the hacking of their games.
Does this mean that they have no intention of allowing mods for Diablo 3? If so, then let the shit fly. God, it was bad enough when iD said they weren't looking into mod support that much with Rage**. Most mods never make it off the ground, sure, but this trend really needs to stop.
**Ok, I looked this back up and I may have overreacted a bit. ((

Haha, Relic already said players won't get mod tools anytime soon too. Soo that everyone can play the game unmodded first. As if DoW2 didn't have enough bad decisions going after it already...

Attribute points are not player-assignable in D3. They’re not in the blizzcon build, but we thought that was just to simplify things for new players at the show. Jay says no, that’s how it is in the game now. His explanation was that it makes items even more important, and that it lets the designers plan a bit better (they can assume players will have at least X in each stat by a given level). You still get attributes, and they will still be required for equipment use, but they are automatically assigned each level up. Thus every Wizard will have the same base str/vit/dex/etc as every other Wizard of the same level. Same for the Barb and WD.
Next time I'll get hyped about any game, someone punch me in the balls.

No player assignable attribute points!!
Holy shit, as if Diablo wasn't simple enough. I much as the previous entries of the game were just simply an hours long exercise in clicking shit on the screen until it dies, this is even worse. I did enjoy the first Diablo until about half-way through my second run through when I realized that I was just clicking on shit randomly and that the game barely presented any challenge or role playing at all.

No player assignable attribute points makes the baby Jesus cry.
I'm not thrilled about it, either.

They really seem to take a lot of pages from WoW's book for this. I still remember the beta push (for WoW) that removed stat-allocation from the game in favor of the game doing it for you. The reason the devs gave us was something along the lines of "some people would inevitably allocate them badly and gimp their character, so we removed the chance of that happening."
I really hate it when a game insists on holding my hand. Whatever happened to just dealing with the consequences for one's choices?

But what if the player makes bad choices? :p
