The irony here is that this reminds me of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within in reverse mode.
Sands of Time, the first modern POP game, was colorful and cheerful. But when they decided to make POP 2 dark, gritty, with galons of blood, gore and heavy metal music... there was an outcry...
So the lesson is... if a game starts colorful it must stay colorful. And if it starts punkgothic then it stays punkgothic.

But original PoP was totally dark and gritty?

Internet debate's like fighting in hell. You're stuck and going nowhere. It's pointless, for eternity.
So just get your opinion in and gtfo.

It's things like this that make me afraid to voice my opinion. I mentioned something I noticed and disagreed with in the game a few posts back, and now there's all sorts of comments like this. I hope I'm not the one that started them...
Not sure what you mean by that.

I would say it was a mix of cheerful adventure and dreadful dungeons.
The dungeons were dark and the traps were bloody, but as the game progressed with better graphics (from Dos to the Super Nintendo version) the dungeons became more colorful to emphasize the exotic persian feeling.
I´m going to admit that I liked Warrior Within. The gameplay was excellent, the combat was dinamic, the time powers were better than before (now slown down was useful since you were quicker than any other trap or enemy). And I like metal and Godsmack.
But it was a good game with the wrong character. It had nothing "persian" in it. No beautiful islamic architecture or soundtrack that stablished SoT.

Addendum:
The new PoP game that has been announced is also causing some outcries in regards to art and design decision... From "the Prince looks like a ninja" to "it doesn´t seem persian enouth".

It wasn't in response to your post directly. A few pages back I made a slight comment that, while looking at the screenshots, I noticed a rainbow and it felt out of place in the world of Diablo. It was a simple observation, and I was commenting on it. This seemed to be followed by one or two posts, several articles, and a few pictures similar to that mocking people who even dared to mention that they might not like having rainbows in the game, and therefore making me kinda wish i never said it.
Anyway, its several posts ago and I've reserved myself to treating Diablo 3 like a different game entirely rather than a sequel, so that I can look forward to it without nitpicking every piece of media Blizzard releases. That means I am now done with this thread, cya.

Fuck you and fuck the mass-bashing power of internet whenever an opinion is formed in a vocal subgroup going against the general consensus. Turning an argument into ridicule as a way to discredit and mock actively its supporters removes anyone's right to discuss the matter and makes YOU look ridiculous. That kind of behaviour is spreading all over the net like a disease and actually making things worse instead of applying basic principles of respect.
Yep, agree completely. Apparently the formal term for that particular logical fallacy is "(
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_ridicule) Appeal to ridicule", and it does seem to be quite a wide-spread tactic on the internet when it comes to issues like this.

I like this "trash it and start over" view.

New class unveiled... a Wizard! No, not Sorcerer. Wizard. There's a difference they're trying to underline pretty strongly on the main site. Like... between D&D Mage and Sorcerer. D&D reference is mandatory because one of the spells is
