This is addictive. 71 seconds is my best time so far. Like many games in which you can expect to die very rapidly, it needs to be good enough to hold your attention firmly during those short, frantic, rinse-and-repeat sessions and make you want to try to best your own time, but if it does that well then it doesn't necessarily need to do much more.
I think that makes it hard to make this look appealing?

Looks like a nice arcadey game to play when you got 2 - 15 minutes of free time for some intense schooting.
Very much.
(Edit: Just watched the video at the beginning of the thread. I have no clue how to be that good at this game. They are some kind of Devil Daggers god.)

I keep chipping away at this, and am starting to make some breakthroughs. Mostly I've realised that I need to be very very efficient :) My best time is now 2 minutes. Still having a good time with it!

164 seconds... I think I'm officially not terrible at Devil Daggers!

Some dark urge has caused me to start playing Devil Daggers again, and I just got my new high score of 199.9618 seconds. It is quite irritating to be told that you were 0.0382 seconds away from a nice round number :) I'm still in awe at the time/score in that video.

Gah. I just had a game where I grabbed almost twice as many crystals as I had in the game above, killed 15% more enemies shooting at 3% higher accuracy, but survived for 0.5 fewer seconds (199.4620)... and so it's not recorded as my 'best' game, even though it totally was. Darn it.
It's interesting that after 2.5 years I've been able to pick this up again and actually improve upon my old best scores.
