agrash: Your Thief 3 comparision is accurate, except IW is even worse. Everything is smaller(One corridor and three rooms counts as entire load zone, WTF), simplified(no skills, no inventory grid), and dumbed down(Universal ammo, you can't even operate the keypads yourself).
That sure looks promising :nono:
Looks like they've went mainstream instead.
But i assume that even those facts still doesn't make it a bad game since the ratings aren't all that bad. The loading zone's will probably annoy me the most if it is that bad as you say they are.
And what about the total lenght of the game? Is it +- as long as its prequel or shorter? I'm asking because my fingers are tingling for prototype ^^
Sigh.. So many games and yet so little time

Invisible War is much, much shorter than Deus Ex. Invisible War... Plays better if you don't think of it as being Deus Ex's sequel. :p

I'm playing it right now and its true that they've dumbed it down alot and the loading screens are slow and happens to often but its still an overall good game that deserve's its high reviews imo :)
One thing that is a bit strange is that JC apparently destoryed area 51 in this game (chose that ending to but i did em all for the sport ^^) and caused a blackdown for the entire world forcing the people to live back in huts or in the swamps (at least that was according to what he said at the end or he was using sarcasm  ). 20 years later it feels like we are waaay further into the future since the first game didn't feel that sci-fi to me..
I just repaired the incubator/incabater/'giant lift thingy' to the lower parts so i'm still at the beginning.
I love the side quests so far though.. Sneaking into that gay's penthouse and looting everything was awesome. I also lol'd when i was mugged by those thugs and when they were owned by the robot who was patroling there as well ^^. To bad those cops threw in a grenade while damaging the bot who then killed them both to return the favor
Now which one to choose: WTO or the order
I'll probably go with the order
And also, how the hell does everyone know what i'm doing.. I sneak in the basement of the VOX and bam there's the alien black market gang giving me a sidequest all of the sudden or when i discovered info at the gay's penthouse/VOX office and suddenly that WTO chick contacts me

For IW, they sort of assumed every ending happened simultaneously.
The Aquinas hub exploded, plunging the world into the dark ages, yet also somehow managed to provide enough leverage for the illuminati such that they were able to largely control the rebuilding of the world, making it a hugely extra-governmental global corporate ruling class-style affair. Also, JC and helios magically survived and are off being mysterious somewhere.(not
exactly spoilers, but blacked out just in case)

Sadly, you'll find it makes next to no difference. This is one of IW's critical failings: your decisions are largely meaningless in the long run.

Blackdown? The point of destroying Area 51 was to destroy the Aquinas, which filtered all electronic communications in the world. You could achieve a similiar effect if Internet all over the world stopped working. Of course it was a bigger problem in Deus Ex with
all transactions being electronical and all.
Hardly a Dark Age though, and certainly not "age of city-states" as Tong put it. If anything, they could simply revert to the ancient IPv6 :)

But Morpheus monitored the IPv6 protocols :o They got you coming and going!

Is it possible to enlarge your inventory this time or am i screwed again?
I think i saw a biomod which allows you to cary more stuff but i think that's the same part for the computerhack so that's out of the question..
It also sucks that you can't put more then 2 mods on a weapons :nono:
Also, what's up with that lame inventory screen.. One time i couldn't cary more then 7 lockpicks in a square and now i'm carrying 2 packs/squares: one with 11 & the other one with 12 of them while i can only cary 10 health packs. Probably bugged or something.
And is it me or does the food > the health packs?? They give you about the same healthamount and you find alot more food then health packs
Pyrian on 2/7/2009 at 22:55
Yeah, only the strength biomod upgrades your inventory size. It's pretty restrictive. I thought healthpacks gave a lot more health than food? Regardless, I usually just took more bioenergy cells, anyway. :D
A single weapon can only have two mods, but you can have two of the same weapon with different mods if you like. It's worth noting that IW can be completed fairly easily without using any weapons at all.

maybe i over overacted a bit but now i'm in cairo and the healthpacks are almost everywhere. Even when i need to heal there's alway a bot somewhere nearby and i have the biomod as well so i'm thinking of dumping those medpacks
Is there a way to do quests for both the WTO & the order?
So far i've done everything they've asked (secundaire & main quests) but i found a glitch with that advanced weapon: i shoved a big box between the door so it can't close. Then pressed the button to open the case, killed the both & guard and afterwards the scientist which took an hour to kill. So i can take the weapon afterwards, but apparently even when i killed the scientist the game acts as if i've just took the weapon for the WTO even though that chinese chick thanked me after killing the guy.
Now i'm at the greenhouse but when i destroy their crops the chinese woman says something about i not being trustworthy of the order & sending men after me, so i guess i'm kicked out or can i still do the main quests for them even though she'll send some guys after me?? When i checked my mission objectives the order still have a mission for me at the archeology..
I want to be on the order side in the end but with that mess in the advanced weapon lab & now the greenhouse (which the order said anything about untill it was to late :nono:)

Like I said, none of those choices really make any difference. Ultimately it'll be pretty easy to spot which choices actually are significant, since they're "do X to end the game" kinda choices.
In other words, you can kick the crap out of the order constantly and they'll still ask you for help. Likewise for the WTO.
Which is a failing of the game really, but hey: at least you can go crazy and not lose out! :D
