With master rifles, the assault shotgun will take down standard troops with 1 round, maybe two if your aim isn't perfect. It also shoots about twice as fast as the pistol and has a bigger magazine unmodded than the fully modded pistol. Sabot rounds are useful for taking out bots and cameras, though with pistols you can just take a GEP gun. The assault rifle is 100% accurate and without recoil, at least with some mods. You can also scope and silence it, meaning it's pretty equivalent to the pistol for longer range takedowns, except it's also silenced. The sniper rifle is pretty amazing, as we all know.
To be honest, I don't usually bother with the dragons tooth sword. It's good, sure, but takes up too much space. I'd rather carry some more grenades or ballistic armour and take a knife, using the charger prod for silent melee takedowns. The advantage of taking pistols is that you get more space and can easily carry a GEP gun. With rifles, I couldn't take sergeantgiggles' inventory, because I like to carry all the grenades, some zyme, and as many suits of thermoptic camo, ballistic armour and hazmats as I possibly can.
The 10mm pistol is the jack of all trades, but three rifles gives you a better weapon for most given scenarios, at the expense of inventory space.

I admit to being wrong about the Assault Shotgun. I did some tests, and you can take out Commandos with a headshot at Advanced already. The distance is modest, but makes all the difference between being safe in a vent and being very unsafe in a middle of a corridor. Uses same skill as Sniper Rifle. SABOTs are very effective against small Spider Bots, which are by far most numerous and annoying bots in the game. It has large damage-to-bullet ratio, so it's one of the few weapons where you actually gain ammo from killing enemeis and searching the bodies. Also should be useful for annoying fauna. And it looks pretty damn sweet.
I will not stand down in the AR issue though. Very hard to headshot, ammo shortage is a serious problem, you only see damage increase at Master level, pathetic damage(You need 3-4 bursts to take out a goddamn Greasel).
I agree about Dragon's Tooth. I don't like it, but I always end up using it anyway because it's a "necessity". Even at Untrained, it can take out Commandos and MiBs in one swing, and that's pretty fucking useful. Maybe now that I have the shotgun I'll be able to drop it.
I have no idea why it's so large in the inventory, because the pull-out animation clearly indicates it's like a lightsaber. Probably more "balance".

I think so too, but don't let Papy hear you mention that theory.

Am I correct to assume demolition increases damage from explosive props, like Boxes of Cake and Barrels of Boom?
I remember Red Barrels of Boom not being able to blast through 50% doors, and now they do. But I'm Trained in Demolition.

http://i43.tinypic.com/29dg368.jpgI just finished blowing up the boat which turned out to be more fun then i first thought and now i'm at the gate of a mister doubt or something and that's when i found this hidden behind a wooden closet which suits perfectly for firewoord now :p
When i destroy it, i get exp and it says something about achievement succes. But now my question: what the hell is it?? It looks like something out of a casino.
I "hope" i'm almost at the end, since i received prototype recently and i also still have invisible war and the last remnant lying here next to me and later on i still have to buy dark sector, wolverine & bionic commando but "luckely" they aren't released yet here in my country

It's a gizmo. Since it's not really a spoiler: After you talk to Dowd, MJ12 raids(more like visits) the graveyard. Assume the gatekeeper used this to summon them.
I'd say you're 2/3 through now. No need to hurry, so far best part of Invisible War has been the intro and The Last Remnant is a jRPG through and through.

It really shouldn't: only weapons actually reference weaponskill when doing damage, everything else is weaponskill independent.
A point to note is that door "toughness" (hitpoints) and door "minimum damage threshold" (how much damage you need to do to even CAUSE damage) are two different things, and not always used consistently: you can have a 100% door that will still die from being stabbed with a knife (a lot), and you can have a 10% door that is LAMproof.
While one would hope the two were largely used in a fairly related fashion, this was not always the case.
So don't read to much into it. :)

2/3, wow its really a long game idd :)
IW also scored high in the reviews i though?
Its probably a game like what thief 3 did after thief 1 & 2. A couple of changes that 'ruined' the game for the die-hard fans, but overal its still a very enjoyable game.
Is it also that long like the first game?? Now i'm at the paris catacombs and i'm at 23hours, i like exploring everything and doing secundaire quests but its almost always the aggresive approach since its more fun

Ahhh, I thought they were tied in some way, since in the game almost anything with 50% or more strenght = blow up time.
agrash: Your Thief 3 comparision is accurate, except IW is even worse. Everything is smaller(One corridor and three rooms counts as entire load zone, WTF), simplified(no skills, no inventory grid), and dumbed down(Universal ammo, you can't even operate the keypads yourself).

Doesn't Jock say he can't take off because of some kind of EMP interference, and he says JC needs to shut it down otherwise he's a sitting duck? That would be the thing-a-majig causing said interference.
