:p Well, everybody has their own opinion, and I will respect that. But still... :nono:

I don't get it either. We all know the AI in Deus Ex was pretty bad, but that's the only thing that distracted me from otherwise excellent gameplay. As far as graphics go, I thought Deus Ex was fine in that respect too. It wasn't going to challenge UT for sure, but it was pretty solid compared to other games that came out around the same time. For me, Deux Ex is #1 primarily due to the depth of the story, and also due to the open ended gameplay.
SS2 is a solid #2.
I liked Thief 1 & 2, but didn't have any urge to play them again like DX and SS2.
I've tried a few times now to play SS1, but I keep giving up fairly early in the game because the view & movement controls are just so frustrating. I haven't gotten "into" the game yet because I can't seem to get past the tedium of working the controls. This last time, I only got half way through Med/Sci when Tron 2.0 came out and that was all the excuse I needed to punt on my third attempt at SS1 :tsktsk:

I loved the story of Deus Ex.
The reason I don't like it as much as the Thief games is that it was nearly impossible to avoid killing anyone. I managed to complete some of the first missions without killing anyone by saving and loading all the time, but finally I got frustrated and just killed the enemy when necessary.
Deus Ex and System Shock are both also missing the great Fan Mission community of Thief games... Most of the Fan Missions are really good, some of them are better than the original missions! They make the game never ending. :)

My best game is "Lamer 2". \o/

But Terra Nova languishes in the abyss of obscurity. I've never seen it referred to in a magazine or online article, or seen a review, or any such thing.
You'll find Terra Nova wholly deserving of its place in the very elitist GameSpy Hall of Fame. Along with Underworld, System Shock 1 and Thief 1 this gives Looking Glass the highest showing of any software company in the Hall of Fame (so shove that Id :p)

Really? I hadn't noticed that. Thanks for informing me. Still, it would be nice if the game was better known.

Being the kinda gamer how likes story, interaction, and open-endedness, I go for DX. Both Theif and SS lacked almost any direct interaction with NPC that wasn't of the violent nature, and Goggles barely has a personality, so it goes more toward the Half-Life spectrum in terms of protagonist developement. Plus when you include that one of the endings in DX
allowed you to become god
so to speak, I have to go for that.

Alright, i honestly can't see how you could think that. Deus Ex had higher poly counts, yes.. but better textures? No way. Sound effects? That's almost funny.
I'd of probably enjoyed Deus Ex a lot more had it used the Dark engine... being based off Thief code, like Shock 2 was. Not that i don't like it, i did enjoy it a fair amount but things like the AI, the view bobbing and other little things that were horribly done, really turned me off.
I'm looking forward to Invisble War though, i'm just hoping they get things right this time... Thief and System Shock 2 set a standard for me, and i really can't stand much else that doesn't live up to it.

Agreed.
I've hardly been a cheerleader for SS2 but even I'd have to say that SS2 beats Deus Ex on sound. Deus Ex always seemed strangely empty of the ambience common to dark engine games.
Graphically I don't think there's a great deal separating them. In terms of gameplay I'd put Deus Ex in front of SS2 (but I'd also put SS1 in front of Deus Ex).
I ended up voting for Thief despite my affection for the original Shock.
