I voted for Thief, because it simply is one of the best games I've ever played... and the mission editor is brilliant too! :D The atmosphere in Thief games is something I haven't seen in any other game.
There's nothing wrong with Deus Ex either, I loved the story, but the playability wasn't that great... Some of the weapons were quite boring too.
And I have to admit that I still haven't played System Shock games, even though I have had them both for ages now... :o

You'd think it would be, wouldn't you. At this time, System Shock is in the lead by quite a margin. I guess that just shows that even in a deus ex forum, its still the best!

I think Deus Ex is best by quite a margin. Think of how prescient the story is, and how interesting. It was truly groundbreaking. Theif is wonderful too.
I only played System Shock 2, and I hated it. It was barely more than a customizable First Person Shooter with puzzles, and that AI be-atch, well, last night I saw her out back warming up the stable boy...

Even though I have yet to play the first one, I chose the System Shock 1 & 2 option. Any game that melds rpg/fps/survival horror that actually manages to scare the piss out of me just has to be my favorite. :cheeky: Everytime I finish SS 2 I get rather sad knowing that there's never going to be a SS 3.

I really do believe that all 3 are equal - some do some things better than others, but all are superb. Perhaps I might have voted for Thief - it was the one I played first and the one that brought me here, and I found it more frightening than SS - but I don't believe that's enough to set it apart from the others. I shall abstain from voting. I would have voted "All of the Above" if possible.

Personally, I am quite optimistic that the System Shock franchise will continue in some form, even if only in 10 years or somesuch. And I personally felt a little let down when I finished SS2 since the ending, while I wouldn't call it "terrible", certainly did not live up to the standard of the rest of the game, I felt. I think that the original System Shock and Thief had the best endings in an LG game.

Ha! Easy one. System Shock 2 is 2nd (hey! even the name says it:D ). Deus Ex is dead last just for all this hype it gets over Thief. If it's better than Thief though, then one would expect Thief III to be more of a Deus Ex 2 experience however, it's the other way around of course. Inevitably first has got to go to the game that made an impact on lots of games released after that (games that tried to insert stealth and failed miserably) : Thief. I'm glad to see a TIII coming, glad to see a DE2 coming, why the hell aren't we getting a SS3 then?

Theres NO WAY I could choose which is better out of those 3, no fair :nono:. Each of the 3 are great games in their own. Thief is great for the sneaking around, System Shock is great for its scaryness + sci fi setting, and Deus Ex is great for its sci fi stuff + the action. And all of them have great storylines so its impossible to choose between the 3.

Aville: The System Shock liscence is a legal mess. I believe Ion Storm Austion and/or Irrational Games have (in the past, not now) hired lawyers to look into the situation and neither resolved anything clearly.
I voted for Deus Ex. But they're all brilliant. Still, if I had to pick one and burn my copies of the others, I'd go for Deus Ex. Although possibly because I've played it for 2 less years then I've played thief ...

Thief > DX > SS2.
SS2 is excellent, DX is mind blowing, Thief is Thief.
One for breakfast, one for lunch, and one as a midnight snack. All taste great. :D
