Well then why dont we just make our own DX3 usin the HL2 engine ?
Have fun, but I will still pretty much be against it. Aside from the fact that it is a sign that nobody has any new ideas, I also fear that the quality can only hurt the original.
I have no problem with games made with DX in mind (ie. Bioshock to System Shock), but I would prefer people not try and wipe their arses with such an amazing game for the sole fact that they think they knew how to make it better. Has George Lucas taught us nothing? :P

Nothing that Joel Schumacher didn't remind us of.

Eidos is the publisher of Deus Ex.
HL2 source engine… w/e I don’t care what engine as long as it’s good.
What I am talking about is re-establishing Deus Ex as a triple A franchise. Not ruining a good thing. A lot of “newbies” aren’t going to go out and buy Deus Ex 1 on PS2(especially on ps2 with its excessive loading times that and dated graphics) or PC and fall in love with it. Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes was remade and it turned out just as good as it ever was. With the right ambition and developer’s we could see Deus Ex turn into the next multi million seller(again). Tweak the game, add a lot more content, add havok 3 physic’s, add 3rd person(thief 3) so that you can stealth and shoot out lights and have that fun splinter cell 3 vibe. But also keep the ability to just use 1st person and have fire fights with intelligent far cry caliber enemy’s.
Fable taught us that a game doesnt have to be simplified to sell a million copys. I dont care if you like it or think its not as good as it could have been, it still wasnt a simplified "zelda". And nobody has ever redone a bad game... so Deus Ex 2.5 is a good idea, as long as they know what they did wrong and fix it. Or just go straight to Deus Ex 3 afterwards and make it alot better and give it more of an open massive feel to it.(but dont make it 20 years later...) make it so something like you are controlling JC Denton and he is in control of everything and you begin the game "waking up" as JC" "waking up" after being controlled by helios...then it begins.

die kthx bye
because releasing it on the PC and more power full xbox 360 (with the always use full XNA)would be a bad idea? Because we wouldn’t want the game to reach Grand Theft Auto 3 type sales and popularity? Or maybe we can abandon Deus Ex altogether?

JC, since you obviously can't take a hint, let my just spell it out for you. This "great idea" of yours is horribly, impossibly, unlikely, un-ecenomicalyviably, impracticaly WILL NOT HAPPEN IN ONE MILLION YEARS! And the ideas you have for improvements are the same naive "omg imagine a game where you could do ANYTHING"-ideas that kids who know nothing about programing have been having wet dreams about since the dawn of videogaming.
Also, I rather liked this line from you first post...

its such a bad idea yes i agree... theres absolutly NO reason for Deus Ex to be remade so that it becomes a triple A franchise once again...I bet if DX1 was remade and came out on xbox360/PC you'd buy it tho wouldnt u? And since you know SOOOOO much about programing tell me what company you work for? mmmmm i thought not. And if the right developer had the right ambition than this "idea" of mine wouldnt be such a bad idea in the first place.
Let me hear your idea's on Deus Ex and what Edios should do with the franchise...
look i may be a newbie to this forum but that doesnt mean you gota be rude... i wouldnt be rude to you so i dont expect you to be rude to me. :thumb:

Probably, not sure I'd like it tho. DX is the greatest game ever imo. You think updating it graphicaly and adding some stuff would make it better? Five words: Star Wars Triology: Special Edition.
People have very fond memories of DX the way it is. Updating it with all kinds of flashy effects might garner some new fans but most likely just piss off the people who have been around since the beginning. Not to mention that such a project would cost boatloads of cash AND they'd probably screw it up unless they managed to get the original Ion Storm team back together.
Bottom line: I don't realy have anything against you JC, but that is quite simply the
worst idea ever.
What do I think they should do with the franchise? Well, unless it goes back to the hands of the original team, leave it well enough alone. DX: best game ever. DXIW: pretty good. Anything they do from here on could only get worse. Let it die with some dignity.

Quick note to JC: push the "quote" button at the top right of someone's post to quote them, or use the "quote" function (the button that looks like a comic strip bubble next to the blue S when you are making a post), rather than putting their whole post inside quotation marks ... because it's confusing who's saying what when you do that.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm in agreement with the majority here... DX is a classic in its own right, and remaking it will undoubtably do more harm than good, even touching it up is iffy (except maybe incr the res on some textures and AI, but even that to a certain extent).
But I wouldn't mind at all DX FMs and the DX world being transported into a newer, shinyer engine with more bells and whistles that is *not* DXII, but more true to the origianal DX vision, which is why I mentioned the Dark Mod as a good paradigm in my last post.
That, I think, is a good thing and meeting you half-way.
Edit: but there's no sense in getting delusions of grandure ... even though DX itself is one big dilusion of grandure. :p

Third person is not a good idea in my opinion.
Neither is designing a PC game for consoles.
Deus Ex is very dead. The team has split up and are moving on to different things. It's reputation was badly soiled by the dissapointing sequel (even if you like it, admit that it's perceived badly). ISA was shut down. Eidos might be getting sold to someone. Io Interactive is their only American developer. No one is going to attempt this. If it happened, just about no one would buy it.
