Downloaded Deus ex GOTY edition from Gamespy and it won't run. Tried all of the usual tricks like compatability, turning off visual themes etc.
Comp specs:
Alienware Aurora
AMD 64 3800+
Nvidia 7800 Gt Sli
Creative XF-I Platinum
2 gb memory
Logitech zx-5300 speakers
Logitech G-7 mouse
Logitech G-15 keyboard
Runs all the older games such as SS2, Quake 2, all Tomb Raiders. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Deus Ex was one of my favorite games and would like to play it again. Thanx in advance

first thing you should try is the software mode.if that doesnt work, there is probably some ugly compatibility issue with the game.if the game runs in software mode, try switching to D3D or opengl.you can try the (

http://www.zeckensack.de/glide/) this wrapper..

"Won't run" is quite a vague description... What precisely it does do, any problems during installation, any error messages...?

You may find additional information on why it's not running by checking the DeusEx.log file in the System folder of your main Deus Ex folder. Usually the last few lines give the critical failure message.

Thanks to all who replied. Turns out that Deus Ex doesn't like Direct x 9.0c at all. Reinstalled Direct x 7 and it runs perfect. Thanks again.

Odd. I'm running two systems with DirectX 9.0c, and Deus Ex runs with no problems. On the other hand, I have ancient video cards, so ...
