Just my 2 cents, I also get massive headaches from 60 Hz refresh rates, and can notice if my monitor/video card driver reverts itself to 75 Hz(I use 85).

Maybe I'm just a freak of nature? I checked out my mom's old computer, with a regular 8 year old monitor. Both of us have used computers with LCD monitors for ages, and neither of us noticed any flickering. I double and triple checked, the refresh rate was 60 Hz.

apparently it's easier to notice flickering out of your peripheral vision.
I believe that 60hz combined with fleuroescent (sp) lighting = bad

I tried looking at it out of my peripheral vision, didn't see a thing. The lighting you mentioned (which I can't spell either) -- those lights are those annoying humming thin tube light bulbs, right?
Those were on in the kitchen right beside the monitor. :laff:
