The government wants a police state because it has commited so many
crimes that it is afraid of the American public.

Now this discussion is missing one major party, or actually parties, which is corporations. Corporate lobbyists have severely hampered for example the environmental conferences in Kyoto and Rio de Janeiro and other similar gatherings. In many countries they pay 0% taxes, many major corporations have moved most of their production facilities to developing countries, which offer them no environmental regulations to attract business... the list goes on. Movies like Distinguished Gentleman and Bulworth actually depict the situation rather accurately. Voters choose, but corporations pay the bills. Who do you think the politicians listen to more on three years out of four?
So take it away, Bob!

Okay cool, if you could just send me a copy of 'The Dictionary of PowerCrazy English' and maybe a copy of 'The World According to PowerCrazy' while your at it.
Cheers
Thanks

Yeah I love your sarcasm, hilarious. But the changing of the word is for purposes of debate and simplicty only. And "The World" is my judgement based on facts i've gatered by reading, and Watching the news. If you read the Homeland security act, you'll find out that they want the US to be a police state. As far as teh OIL thing goes, look at that picture posted by armcommander on the first page and you'll see what i mean. Unless you are naive and scared...

Well PowerCrazy, it was only your opinions on the US's empire status, its sway over Europe, and how it had 'conquered' various nations (I never knew Europe was a nation) that I disagreed with. I never mentioned anything about your oil theory or this police state scheme, for the simple fact that I dont live in the US, have never been there, and dont know much about those particular things.
And with regard to your point that watching the news will give you an objective viewpoint on current affairs, try telling that to people in China. Now who's being naive.

YOM! OMG I gotta get out of here! Yom for TIPS in Eire, scary. You'ld be the first on the slab oRGy due to your suspicious terrorist-like demeanour, and your hatred of Yoms darling librarian. He was already reporting on you for AghAgh Sean!

So if I watch the news to supplement my knowledge of the world i'm naive? Wow, "truer" words were never spoken... I'll be sure to limit my sources for current events and things to just heresay and speculation. That way i can be a well-rounded individual... I see why this debate exists--Ignorance is Bliss.
And obviously Europe isn't a nation, but rather than saying Germany, France, etc. the word Europe suffices. Come on my opinion of you is getting lower and lower....

we installed sadam hussein; we put him in power, and when he didnt do what we wanted we tried to take him out. same w/castro. there was this case where we lent money to germany after WWI so they could pay britain and france that $56 billion in war reparations so that THEY (G.B. and France) could pay us the money they owned from WWI......the U.S. giving most european countries money after WWII....esp. since most of those countries were obliterated...we help set up the gov in West Germany after WWII....we helped japan after we bombed them...and the US helped outline what countries would go where after WWI.....ie Poland, yugoslavia, romania...we ran central and southern america....we made panama and set up the colombian government...not to mention a bunch of those countries down there....we put in power nelson mandela, sadam hussein, fidel castro....we supported the contras by selling weapons in the middle east....i know this and more cuz the US MAKES us learn history in school...and they really dont leave out the gritty details....all my history teachers talk about what the U.S. did wrong and how we've made poor decisions at times....powerkrazy knows what he's talkin about and mucca....learn some history
