A worthy celebration is in order, to commemorate the anniversary of the pinnacle of gaming. A game so emergent that even today, a decade later, it has not been rivaled in narrative or freedom.
That game is, of course, Deus Ex.
The suggested event is, of course, a single-night run through the game, accompanied by the proper ambiance of no lighting and fine soda such as Fentimans.
Let us remember the good times, the great times, the first time you discovered you could kill Nevarra on the plane and all the times in between.
Here's to Deus Ex. The best game ever made. :thumb:

No way am I going to run through the entire game in one night. I'll just do Burden of 80 Proof instead.

Yeah, I took that literally and dragged my flatmate to the kitchen to toast a glass of wine for the occasion.

I guess I'll wait till evening and wear sunglasses. Ten years, damn... sad thing is, if they didn't make anything better by now, they probably never will.

To celebrate, the game is $2.50 on Steam. I'm sure everyone around here already has it, though.

It's actually both games on sale at Steam. They're £1.49 each in the UK. The offer ends at 3pm Pacific time ( 11pm London, I believe ) today. They might make a nice Steam gift for a friend?

Amazing that it's been so long since it was published. I was merely ten years old at that time, maybe eleven, but I remember enjoying Deus Ex immensively. So strange...
It's still a great game, and will forever be in my mind. It might have affected me more than I think - shaping me into who I am today. There are not many things that I can name to have had such a massive influence on me...

I bought it again anyway. My original box is buried in a crate somewhere under the house and I couldn't be bothered to look for a crowbar.

I've got my original Deus Ex disc lying in a mountain of old game discs somewhere. Rebought it on Steam just 'cause it's that much more convenient.
