Here's the port of the Thievery Mutator for UT to Deus Ex. Adds a lightgem, makes you invisible, you know.
I started on it to pass the time until ThieveryUT was released, and I finished it on the same day it came out a week and a half later. Halfway through I emailed Dalai and he had Cythe do a special DeusEx-style lightgem, and it looks tight!
I was going to post this on the internet earlier, but I only found the time (away from ThieveryUT!) to look for my old webspace account today. Enjoy.

Very cool indeed. This'll be a fun way to get started on DX again after a year or so. Are you able to hide in the shadows atm (a la Garrett)? If not, this can offer a very cool modern thief style game. Play with a baton/prod and DTS and force yourself to play the levels non-lethal (even though the game won't recognize it, it'll be self-satisfaction).
Very nice arcanex, can't wait to reinstall DX and fire this up.:thumb:

It is like modern-Thief, but harder since the levels are better-lit and there are no torches to put out. But there's no more gratifying experience than being able to complete a level without drawing a weapon...

Is it just me or is really, really hard to hide in the shadows with this? I mean, even just barely visible (the slider is just one above the bottom) the terrorists on Liberty Island would stop, notice me, and start shooting. Anyone else feel this way?

This patch doesn't add them, seems like you just never noticed them before.

Yes, it's hard to hide in the shadows because the enemies can still see you unless you're 0% visible (where the bar is at the very bottom). Even then, they can still see you if they're attacking; the technique is to make sure you keep your distance, stay out of their field of view (the more visible you are the less time it takes for them to spot you in their fov), and never make them alert by making any sound. If they get suspicious ("did you hear something?") they can easily spot you if you're not 0%, and if they start firing you need to run like hell and hope you can break away from their line of sight and hide in a dark shadow area.
If you think Liberty Island was hard, try one of the well-lit indoor levels. I just finished the catacombs, and it was kinda weird how it was better lighted than most of the other levels. I tried making the fire extinguisher be able to take out the burning barrels but it doesn't help much. Hardest level I've encountered so far.
