Man, guess how I got Deus Ex? I was browsing through sshock2.com and David said he had moved on to playing Deus Ex and the next day I was at wallmart with my mom because she had found out I got system shock 2 without her permission, and then I said “I heard this is a good game.” Believe it or not, she got it for me! Thank you David!

had zero information on Deux Ex, didn't read any previews or anything. So, the first time I watched the intro, I had absolutely no idea on what they were talking about. Anyone had the same experience?
I did!

All I can say is:
FPS + RPG = ONE OF THE BEST THINGS EVER TO BE RELEASED
.
.
Yeah I had no idea what was going on too. All my cousin told me about DE is that it's an FPS with RPG elements. Only when I finished 30% of the game, I fully understood what was happening.

I didn't have any information about the game when I first played, my friend simply said it was a good game and handed me his copy. I took it home loaded it up and played, I think the did an amazing job with almost all aspects of the game, great dialogue, fleshed out world, personalities, side mission and, well everything. However I disagree with what everyone's been saying about the opening cutscene, just like an x-files episode you always have the teaser at the beginning, it helps give the feel of the game and draw people in. Besides if you're a good roleplayer you should be able to play Jc as a completly oblivous UNATCO agent and enjoy the game to it's fullest. As for what Z said about the story, I agree if you are interested in the story read everything, I know I did...
