Not so keen on the new character models, though. The UNATCO troopers look good, but the faces on the main characters just look strange. I think I prefer the original models, they fit in better with the surroundings.
Somehow people keep missing this, but those models were not done by Revision, they were done by HDTP. Yeah, they are a big mixed bag. Also most of the environmental textures were done by New Vision, not by Revision.
I don't think the original game was that dreary, sure some of the maps could use a little more colour contrast and decoration but otherwise they weren't too bad aesthetically for me.

Anyone playing Revision will be aware they're part of the HDTP as you have to turn them on seperately by going through an option on the settings menu labeled 'HDTP Options'.

I just extracted some content of this mod. They've put hammerite laughs (hammeritelaugh.wav, the haunts in Thief 1/G) as wav files there. I wonder if there are haunts in Deus Ex now :weird:
And even some more ambient sounds from Thief Gold.

All these sound like they're part of this Easter Egg: (

I have the CD version of GOTY and the mod works, except I don't have the options for gameplay and the soundtrack, any thoughts on this issue?

Maybe try to install either Shifter or Biomod separately from Revision? I certainly wouldn't recommend you play with the vanilla gameplay as it's completely broken, half the augs/stats are completely useless. I really regret not choosing Biomod which looked really cool. The soundtrack issue is no big deal to be honest, I actually prefer the original, but ymmv. If you insist there's probably a way to replace the files manually. Try the music folder maybe?

I still prefer to play vanilla, but Biomod isn't a bad choice.
Shifter is the worst. The bug fixes are welcome but the skill point bonuses ruin the game. Biomod is based on Shifter, but eliminates the skill point bonuses so it's much better.
Still, I'm not sure I like the way it turns active augs into passive augs that only use energy in the brief moments they are having an effect. It is admittedly convenient as hell but it makes the game too easy. Also, I don't like the new Athletics skill. I prefer the original leg augs, which forced you to make some character building decisions. Also, you can't really opt to stay Untrained in Athletics because the default jump height is reduced.
One change I particularly like about Biomod is that Regeneration is toned down. I always avoided Regeneration before because it was too overpowered, but the Biomod version is much better.

Am I the only person who doesn't think regen was particularly overpowered? Okay, it lets you use bioenergy as slow-ass medkits. So? Was running out of medkits really such a problem for people? Typically the only reason I install regen is because energy shield is even less useful...
heywood on 25/10/2015 at 14:30
Have you tried upgrading it? At level 1, it works like a slow-ass medkit. Fully upgraded, it restores 40 health points per second while only draining 2 energy points per second. So as long as you have some energy you are nearly invulnerable. Even at level 2, it restores something like 15 or 20 HP/s. If you're low on energy, just flick it on and off. Once you have upgraded regeneration, you won't need environmental shield, environmental training, hazmat suits, swimming, aqualung, rebreathers, ballistic protection, armor, medkits. That's what makes it so unbalanced.
For a stupid easy build, try:
Regeneration
Power recirculator
EMP shield
DTS + Low Tech and/or Combat Strength
Towards the end of the game, you can kind of just walk around slicing everyone and everything to bits with impunity.

Upgrade canisters are far too rare to waste on something that is already overkill at level 1. Keep in mind that I'm not saying it's not good at what it does; I'm saying that
what it does isn't very useful in the first place.

Well, no, you still die instantly to a decent headshot/boom at Realistic difficulty, which is normally the only way you die anyway. And without mods (which apparently nerf it) you have to deal with the fact that it turns off when you're fully healed, meaning you're constantly turning it back on if you're taking damage-over-time - even more so than at level 1.

Okay, but you barely need any of those anyway, and when you
do need them, they're handily provided. Also, damage regeneration cannot
prevent you from dying the way armor/ballistic protection can.
