Double post woo.
I'm up to the return to Battery Park. So far the framework of the game is identical, at least I've not discovered any new missions or altered story. Liberty Island, Battery Park and the Warehouses are pretty much the same but with tarted up textures and the odd cosmetic addition, UNATCO and Hell's Kitchen itself have been completely remodeled, the former being about twice as large and the latter three or four times as much. There's a few new areas at UNATCO that are, so far, off limits (Keypads and locked foors that require codes/keys that II ahven't managed to find, I'm guessing those will turn up later on), aside from that the only other noticable changed have been the includion of more enemies and more traps, i've been caught off guard by several mines, so I think a level or two in Demolishions might be in order.
Conclusion so far: Its Deus Ex, but much prettier.

I think it looks pretty underwhelming actually, especially with the overdone lighting I'm seeing in many screenshots. Compare this to what some people have managed to make in the Dark Engine, like say Keeper of Infinity, and it feels even more underwhelming.

Bizarre rants aside... anyone actually playing this yet? If so, what do you think?
So far I'm loving it - it's different enough from the core game that it's more engaging for me than yet another replay would be, and seeing things from different angles is reminding me just how great this game really is.

The problem with any Deus Ex visual upgrade project is that its version of the Unreal engine has a truly awful lighting system, so no matter how much they improve textures and poly counts, everything still has the same harsh, janky, late-90s look.
Contrast with the Dark Engine's lighting, that can almost stand up to current-gen games even today.

There are also two problems with the Steam Version.
-English only. Not even the Vostfr !! My friend who bought the game with the mod wanted to discover DX, but he is not very good at understanding english voices without subititles. So we have been forced to add the french text ourself with my old cd. And guess the worst? I don't know why, but intro subtitles work no more. How could they skip that? Is that so complicated to put them back as in the original game? They're kidding!
-Other point. Tiny but not very smart. The fact that F12 is the light implent key... but also STEAM SCREENSHOT KEY!!
Can't they do something against that too?
Of course, It is not the mod which is targeted there but DX steam version! This is absolutely not cumfortable to play in such conditions!
The mod itself is also very very very enjoyable, beautiful n' cool! B)
Some places are giant compared with the original game! Of course, the contain is the same in matter of interactive NPCs, plot etc.
But it is something to see at least one time! ^_^
They even change some patrols and guards position. So if you want to see some new challenge, it is quite interesting!

You can add an additional key for the light tho. I put it on F. But it's still annoying that the light goes on every time I just wanna snap a screenshot.

You can change which button takes screenshots in your Steam options.

Yeah but that's gonna change it for all games. I've gotten used to having it on F12 so I'm not gonna change it just for one game.
Anyway, played the first couple hours of Revision tonight. I was pretty so-so about it up until Hell's Kitchen. Now that is a clear improvement over the vanilla version. It's so much bigger and more realistic-feeling than previously. :D

Maybe, but it's certainly better looking than it was. In the orignal
everything was grey, now there's far more variety in the textures. It was never going to look gorgeous, but I think it's an improvement.
Not so keen on the new character models, though. The UNATCO troopers look good, but the faces on the main characters just look strange. I think I prefer the original models, they fit in better with the surroundings.
