So, they updated the textures, and... Nothing else?

Wow, they took a 2000 game and made it look like a 2005 game!
I thought the TR remasters were pretty meh visually. Aspyr aren't as good at this as Nightdive.

Yeah, it's pretty deflating to see the footage, though I have to say that I like having better lighting and shadows. It does make a place look and feel more real to me. And, to be honest, I was never a huge fan of the original Deus Ex's visuals.
Not sure whether lighting and shadows are enough to warrant the USD20+ price tag, mind you.

Frankly, it looks like dog$#!?. It's $30 for the same game with a mediocre texture mod; a game which can be purchased for a dollar and modded with fan-made projects to get not just the same experience but one which is far superior. This remaster is simply redundant.
I've always felt that interest for this game could be renewed if a competent studio (ofc. Nightdive comes to mind immediately) remade it from scratch - perhaps even expanding the game by adding extra maps in between existent ones, cut content from the original, &c (A mission in the Sahara or the Arctic, or perhaps the cut moonbase would be amazing).
It's a right shame that this series has been locked in the vault for so long and, at this rate, will never see another entry worthy of the title. Ah well, I wasn't really expecting them to do much with the series anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

https://www.redmc.net/misc/ineveraskedforthis.jpgJust kiddingI welcome a re-release of Deus Ex on modern consoles so more people will get to try it. And this will be a better place for people to start than Revision. All the knobs on Reddit et al telling new players to start with Revision get on my nerves.

I suppose it might give console players an option to try it out, but IIRC the original PS port of the game was re-ported recently. Although I do agree that new players on PC should start with a fairly vanilla experience. In fact, I'd go so far as to recommend just the original with Kentie's Launcher, which (I think?) is already included with the Steam release.
I don't know how much the re-port goes for on console but it's probably better than $30. As a side note, it might be time for another playthrough :)

The PC version is quite a bit better than the PlayStation port. I'm hoping/expecting that the remaster will be the original game with graphics mods and maybe some adaptation for players using the console controller. I think $30 might be too much coin for an old classic, but the price will fall quickly enough that it won't be an obstacle for anyone who wants to play on console.

Feeling "Detached" here. I think the closeup of the remastered JC Denton actually looks pretty bad. The rest of the shots they chose look okay, but the trailer did not spark any interest in me to buy the remaster.

Honestly, I’m kind of torn on this one. On one hand, I love the idea of Deus Ex getting some attention again — it’s one of those games that absolutely deserves to stay in the conversation. But yeah, this remaster doesn’t exactly scream “must buy.”
