Has anyone here on the forums done the same thing for Deus Ex music than Chicajo has done for the System Shock music? Remixing, recomposing and remastering, stuff like that? I'm only asking because the music in Deus Ex is EXCELLENT and some tracks are pretty easy to learn to play (eg. the main theme). And I'm currently doing a heavy metal -version of the main theme :) Listen I'll provide a link here when it's finished okay? good :cheeky:

DONE, FINISHED, finally :)
You can download the song from (
http://www.wakkanet.fi/~qooper/Qooper%20-%20Deus%20Ex%20Main%20Theme%20(Qooper%20mix).mp3) here. It's not exactly Deus Ex main theme, but instead I went on experimenting and I added some of my own stuff and changed the melody a bit, so that is the result. Don't worry, the main theme can be heard a couple of times, and the music is very Deus Ex-ish otherwise. So what do you think?

It was alright... though I didn't catch much Deus Ex in it.

And wait, there's (
http://www.wakkanet.fi/~qooper/Qooper%20-%20Deus%20Ex%20Ending%20Theme%20(Qooper%20mix).mp3) MORE HERE!
This time I didn't change the melody, so you can hear that it's really Deus Ex (it's the ending theme, one of them). Is this any better? Please comment.
Why not add a Deus Ex -section to the TTLG jukebox? If no one else has anything to contribute, then at least I'll be working on Deus Ex music. Or is the jukebox for LGS games only?

the first one, i thought it was okay, but it didn't sound like it was from Deus Ex.
the second one is pretty cool though, good listening. :thumb:

why dont you just rip the tracks from deus ex directly?
Qooper on 19/5/2003 at 14:00
Why would I want to do that?!? This is all about creating something totally new. If I just ripped the tracks and put them in the internet then that would be just stupid..
IonosFear on 19/5/2003 at 21:06
I must've mis red into that. Incidentally, is there a way to rip the "action music" from deus ex? I.e. the "oh crap I've been spotted and I'm now dying terribly ow ow the pain" type music?

Deus Ex is a somewhat different animal than SS2 is in terms of ripping/remixing music. SS2 kept all sorts of different bits and pieces of the songs in one of the .crfs, and mixed them together on the fly. That's why the music in SS2 can be so dynamic, and it makes re-mixing quite simple with something like Acid.
Deus Ex, on the other hand, was scored by Alexander Brandon and Michael Van Den Bos, formerly known as straylight productions. They worked exclusiveley with "tracker" based music systems, which take tiny samples and enhance, sequence, and otherwise turn them into a song. It's not hard to get these into their original .it format, and the program used (Impulse Tracker) to create this stuff is freeware, but "tracking" isn't something one can learn overnight (IT is also a DOS program, making things exponentially more difficult for some.) But if you can learn IT, it shouldn't be too hard to re-mix any of the DE tracks as you see fit.
I suppose you could also "render" the complete song to .wav, and cut/loop like you would any other song, but that strikes me as being a rather pedestrian way to go about it... ;)

I know all about trackers. I used ModPlug Tracker for doing those remixes there..
