The torrent is available (
http://helixes.dyndns.org:8080/Deus_Ex_Maps_and_Mods_Archive_Installer_v1.01.exe.torrent) here.
I will make the file available on FilePlanet if I can, but I haven't done that yet.
You will need a BitTorrent client (like Azureus or BitTornado) to get it.
Final size: 315 MB (about a GB worth of files after extraction. The compression was really good)
What it does:
* Installs 350+ Maps (including textures, music, sound, etc)
* Installs the No-CD fix
* Installs MTL patch
* Installs Engine.dll that can play/record demorecs properly
* Installs OpenGL rendering fix
* Installs DXIPServer security fix
* Backs up your DeusEx.ini and User.ini files
* Installs Documentation (ReadMe, FAQ, Community links, Videos, etc)
* Registers the deusex:// protocol so you can join servers from a link
* Installs new splash screens
I hope you all like it. It took a long time to make. :)
I have also posted this information at the (
www.DXEditing.com) forums. I'm usually there more often.

Most of the multiplayer community visits the various clan forums, or DXEditing.com or the MTL (new multiplayer patch) forums.
People play Deus Ex multiplayer, I suspect, for a few reasons -
* The singleplayer kicked ass, and the community is familiar and despite all the political b.s., fairly tight-knit.
* Augs. You can't find something as cool and unique in any other game. Snowblind was originally supposed to be titled "Deus Ex Clanwars," but it suffers from XBox-itis (a.k.a. Console-itis) - capabilities were stripped down to accomodate the unthinking/uncapable masses who can't use a keyboard. Heaven forbid that too many keys make a game "hard."
* Augs again - part of the allure of augs isn't just cool abilities, but the fact that ATDM is set up to boost aug abilities when a player runs a high streak of kills.
* LAMs - Proximity mines were unique and are still a relatively rare gaming element.
* Lockpicks/Multitools - another novel element... not just point-and-shoot.
There are other reasons, I'm sure, but the glaring faults of Deus Ex are simply that it has become old. I find it difficult to fault a game for getting old. Some of the best games ever created are old...
* Phantasy Star
* Ultima IV
* Adventure
* StarCon II
* Wing Commander
* Wolfenstein 3D (the Apogee/iD versions which spawned the Wolfenstein games you see today, 10-12 years later)
Admittedly, it's a stretch to hang on to DX. It's just personal preference. :erg:

Deus Ex singleplayer is certainly one of the best gaming experiences I ever had, but I was never much taken by the deathmatch multiplayer, augs or no. But to each his own.

My brother and i played the multiplayer on DX, and actually its pretty fun when you have the GEP gun and the enhanced running aug; its a lot like deathmatch. :thumb:
