well, this could go either way. Bruce Campbell would be a great Jock. however, i do not think putting it during the timeline of one of the games is a good idea. perhaps make it one of Paul's adventures prior to DX. or make it a side story. perhaps even make it occur right before or right after DX2. but trying to get an entire game's story on to the big screen is impossible without drastic changes and/or killing it. especially Deus Ex where there are so many different story branches.
either way it should be a good spy movie. having good action scenes would be nice, but making it an action movie would kill it. i would rather have no action scenes, than to have it be an action movie. tell me this, what action movie ever had an amazing story that could be as in depth as Deus Ex's? Matrix has a great story, but nowhere near as much depth as this game.

I think it would be cool to have a lot of big people in a DX movie, but I would like to see a lot of previously unknown actors (like Carrie-Anne Moss was before she did the Matrix). Of course, being the Dark Angel fan I am I'd like to see the guy that played Lydecker make an appearance.

i just hope they don't make the Mech augmented agents all plastic-y.. that would look cheesy as hell. :tsktsk:

the mech augs will most likely use Final Fantasy: The Spirits within style of CG. either full body CG, or just CG for the mech spots

Lets hope no parts of the movie are cheesy. The last thing I need is another bad movie based off a video game.

well, if it is set in DX time then cheesiness would kill it. if it is a prequel to the game (as was suggested by me. and probably a couple other people) than the character might be somewhat cheesy. and we do not know yet if
Alex Denton
has a personality. he might have one for all we know and be cheesy like Ash from the Evil Dead movies. a little bit of comedy would be nice if applicable, but they should still go for a deep movie with the occasional action scene.

No goddamn prequels. They made a prequel to Resident Evil and thats one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

i was thinking along the lines of one of Paul's missions. perhaps the one he had in Hong Kong when he joined the NSF.

So...the real question is:
The trenchcoat, take it or leave it?
I think it'd be kinda ridiculous to use throughout the whole movie, maybe just in a few scenes for a "Hey! Just like in the game!" scene.
one_gundam_war on 16/7/2002 at 02:16
well, think of it this way; imagine a massive gunfight with a Trenchcoat on. 'twould be cool. and it would be cool to just see JC or Paul walk out of a flooded stairwell and be dripping with water. of course, the director needs to get rid of it after the first gunfight or so. trenchcoat might get holey.
