Keep in mind that if you really think about it, the plot is very complex. That's what we liked about the game, right? But think of how long it took you to play it. A movie has to be in a reasonable time frame. Say, 3 and a half maximum. You would have to somehow not only fit in the dialogue, but it would have to appeal to the action-mongers who typically watch this movie. It COULD be done, and could be done well, but it's hard. My personal feeling is that this should be a book rather than a movie. Many games turn bad after becoming a movie, and I wouldn't want it happening with this one. A book however, would fit the storyline better. A book would offer the reader flexibility in interpreting the story, which is what kind of happened in the game.
Ah whatever, I still would like to be in the movie anyways.

I think this is great. What I've wanted to see for a long time was a Thief movie, so hopefully that will happen too.
I wish people wouldn't always take the approach of "don't do it!" why not? if it sucks, then ignore it... doesn't change the game one bit. Maybe it changes the series' reputation with people who haven't played it, but who cares about that?
If they make the movie there is a chance it will be good, if they don't make it there is zero chance.
Same thing with any movie, remakes... game-movies... whatever, I'm all for it. Make anything and everything you want to Hollywood, some of it is bound to be good and even if it all sucks what's the harm in that? Unless someone is strapping you down forcing you to watch it.
I don't think we have any reason to believe this movie will be bad.
I hope they don't use any bullet time in it though.
And I hope they try to cover as much as they can from the game.
The guy who played Q in star trek did the voice of the senator or whatever right? I don't remember his name now. They might as well get him to play the guy in the movie because his looks didn't really matter much.
As for who should play JC and Paul... hmm...
The disturbing thing is that JC actually reminded me a lot of John Travolta as far as his looks, in the game... but I freaking hate John Travolta so I'm not suggesting him.
Hmmm
No idea.

Now don't get me wrong the movie will have a budget it will be released in theaters, BUT, it won't have John Travolta, Keano Reeves, Tom Cruise, anyone like that. I'm predicting that it will be a Martial Arts film. Martial arts fits the best if you think about it. You are an elite anti-terrorist, your ways a re silent and stealthy, almost ninja like. Your favorite weapon is the Crossbow. THey never know your there. So I can easily see the Main character carrying around either a LAM or an EMP grenade. Or maybe even a scramble grenade fpr bots. Hmm interesting possibilities. But I'm pretty sure there won't be a GEP gun, nor Plasma rifle, nor Flamethrower. But, Assault Rifle, assault shot-gun and DEFINETLY Sniper Rifle. are fair game.man that would be cool if it was broken up into missions where the main character is briefed, then he goes and does a mission. He comes back and is briefed again, and he starts to suspect something.... wow that would be cool.:thumb:
BUT!
If they make it a mindless action flick, then JC wil be a big guy like Arnold, or someone like that. He'll dual wield plasma rifles or gep guns. He'll only use LAMs and other explosive weapons, and there will be stupid one-liners and mindless killing successfully destroying any chance the movie had of being representative of DX. It would probably be a good action flick though. Ahh mindless movie watching.:thumb:
I do hope for the top one though.

That is ironic considering Deus Ex has a few "matrix" references in it. Not that I am supporting the bullet time idea I personally think it is gay.

Well, PipeSmoke as i see it, if someone makes something unworthy to the series and puts the "Deus Ex" (in this case) title on it that can change peoples prespectives on what the series is and what it means. It isn't always all that easy to just ignore something like that, well it isn't for me anyway.... maybe it is just me?
ICEBreaker on 27/5/2002 at 02:24
That is right. Deus Ex is a brand of excellence and something very important to fans. We don't want to see it contaminated with trash. If Hollywood can't keep to the plot faithfully then they should not call it Deus Ex. There is nothing worse than adaptations leaving the plots just because the makers want to influence it with their own set of values and imagination.

There's a very good chance that this movie will never be made at all.
Scarlett on 27/5/2002 at 11:05
i for one certainly hope so... the very idea of making a movie based on the story which was already implimented into a game makes me sick, they're just milking the title for all its worth.
...i am however looking forward to the Alice movie though (which is an exception because the game was already based of a movie in the first place.... and it'd just make a good movie anyway) :cheeky:

this could be - tomb raider(shudders)
or something good, hopefully the latter - any word on the actors?

Cool Deus Ex made into a movie! :thumb: Ill just download a cinema rip of it off of Kazaa probably.:tsktsk: Giving past video game movies this one will probably have just as much to do with Deus Ex as the Resident Evil movie had to do with on of a gthe Resident Evil.:grr: Despite what the Resident Evil fanboys say the movie had next to nothing to do with the game.
But if this isnt a bad franchise than they very well could make this into a good true-to-the-game movie adaption. That would be a first.
