So I read this book a while ago. A year or so I think. Single Combat I beleive was the title, but I can't find the book to be sure. Anyway, I recentyl replayed Deus Ex, and the whole time I kept thinking that this seemed very familiar. (And it wasn't because I'd played the game before. Yeah, I heard you thinking.) Well eventually it hit me. That book and Deus Ex have a hell of a lot in common. The more I think about it the scarier it is. It kinda makes me think the designers may have based it on parts of that book.

Mr. Gibson, anyone?
(Well, they're actually pretty disimiliar. But they share a few themes)

Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum is a bit deusexy, too. A bit. A very good read, though, if you can cope with some of Eco's writing habits.

According to the info I found, Single Combat is a sequel to a book called Systemic Shock! Talk about freaky coincidences... or is it a conspiracy? :erm:
