Whoops. :erm:
I played it only twice so far and didn't pick up every weapon of certain type.
Hmm, I guess I should play it again!

Well, technically the coffee businesses are kinda linked to the main plot, in that they shadow the ZOMG BIG TWIST.
Gestalt on 16/5/2006 at 20:12
The coffee thing was there for the purpose of foreshadowing, yes.
ZylonBane on 16/5/2006 at 20:26
It didn't do a very good job of it. The big coffee reveal takes place at almost the same time as the BIG reveal.
The especially stupid part about the coffee wars is that the big secret was apparently not much of a secret at all.

So you're telling me that invisible war has a plot centered around coffee manufacturers?...
It's sounding an even more appealing prospect already :erg:

The coffee was secretly replaced with Folger's Crystals? (Note: I have not played IW).

The coffee subplot actually made me feel that I was playing a postmodern parody of Deus Ex. Which in itself may not be bad, unless it is sold as a straight-faced sequel.

And still the revelation of the big secret surprised me... moderately.
ZylonBane on 17/5/2006 at 14:55
I don't mean it wasn't a secret to the player, I mean in the gameworld it apparently wasn't a very closely-guarded secret. I can't remember exactly what the source of the reveal was, but I do remember thinking it was a fairly pedestrian information source that a lot of people would have had access to.

I think it was on a datacube about tax returns/other inanity in the SSC HQ armory/evidence room thingy.
