:cheeky::cheeky::cheeky:
I was hoping there'd be a way to save my beer loving pal. I highly doubt I'll end up ending the game anywhere near the way I did before, so I may not be able to raise a few red flags about the mechanic.
@Dam: Sleep? Now why would I bother wasting my time doing that? :joke: I can survive a long time with slE843w9araue9w8*

Because you mentioned you would stay with unatco the next time. Don't read if you want to keep it a surprise:
It is not possible to join unatco, you HAVE to do pauls bidding to proceed in the game.
Also, you don't have to talk with Everett for Jock to live, just kill the Mechanic.
"Remember, although your character doesn't have to eat, YOU do. We don't want to lose any dedicated players." :D
Does anybody know how much "real" time passes in the game? I've got an idea it's only about a day, which is incredible really.
Lord Bamse on 29/10/2004 at 13:41
Around a week I'd guess. The killswitch is 20 hour delay, and we use almost all of that time in the story. A week is my rough estimate.

Well, that's enough General Protection Fault errors for one day, :grr: methinks I should get some sleep now. I have a few questions, though, might as well ask before I go into a mini coma. :)
Firstly, about UNATCO, the point where you have to do Paul's bidding is when you send the evacuation notice, right? Is there any way to rejoin UNATCO after this, or MJ12, or anything like that? I want to help out the evil crowd for a little while longer, if I can. :ebil:
Secondly, about the ambush that takes place after the evacuation notice is sent. Is it possible to survive the Gunther attack, and escape via the helicopter? I've reasonably well armed now, I can take out Anna Navarre with no problems, but Gunther seems to be invincible, or dangerously close to it. :erm:

You can't win the Gunther battle exiting the subway. Just give up.

Warning for those who haven't played DX too much yet - spoilers aplenty!

I'd ditch ranged weapons but . . . the explosions are just so beautiful . . . :ebil:
Not to mention how nicely the sniper rifle works :ebil: Still, I have played a non-lethal game (not melee-only, even though I did use the baton most of the time) and it's been fun as well.
Speaking of melee-only, I wonder how hard it would be to get this done. Humans pose no problem here because the only person in the whole game who has to be taken down somehow, Howard Strong,
can be reached with melee weapons by using the speed aug to jump onto his platform, but taking out the four bots at Vandenberg could be a drag: only ranged weapons and the spy drone are EMP-capable and relying on Savage's bots is a game of chance because there are only two of them. Still, with regeneration it might acually be possible to pass this section even while combining "no violence" with "melee only" - comparing to JC, Goggles on Impossible is an utter wimp :p Adding "no augs" to that mixture on the other hand, now
that would be a challenge.
...
Goddammit, TNT! I've only reached Hydro playing SS2 wrench-only (and no hacking, but something tells me I'll chicken out of this condition sooner or later) and you've given me an urge to try the same approach in DX! ;)

Yes, that's the subtle "no, the whole world's network traffic does
not go through the global node at Area 51
at all!" URL syntax :)

I was going to take out Bob Page first, but I said to hell with it, and merged myself with Helios. Seemed like the lesser of the evils, and besides, Helios had already started taking over, I might as well join in on the party.
Opinions are mixed on the subject, but personally I think this is the best of the three endings (although not the best of the four endings :) ).

And I probably just grazed the surface of all the different things I could do in game
Ooh, yes. I've been playing it for ages and, for one thing, only recently found out about the pepper gun and security beams... Fun!

I could be an asshole to whoever I talk to
Or kill everyone! :ebil: The problem is quite a few characters have been made invulnerable and you can only find out about this the hard way, but there are quite a few occasions for massive human sacrifices - just forget about op bonuses :)
Regarding Paul and the transmitter: I'm afraid there is no possibility of rejoining UNATCO. I wish there were one, it would be great being able to travel to the same locations but with a completely different set of objectives... As it is however and with the "join Bob Page" ending dropped some time before the release, one has no choice but to be a "good guy"; the only difference is whether you help Paul because you believe his cause or whether you help him because he's your brother and only follow the set path because your old allies decide all of a sudden it would be fun to kill you; AFAIR this makes no difference further in the game - which is weird, considering how some small or even "impossible" things (like getting out of the HQ without killing Anna) have effects.

Hmmm. The 'bots at Vandenburg would be problematic, but I've learned that running and slipping into a secret area can really save your ass. For example, in Thief 2, when I iron manned the game, I was caught in Framed. I'd already disabled the alarms, so I had to worry about the guards only. I was right by Truart's office when I was caught, so I ran to his office door, picked the lock with about 3 guards after me, then ran into the secret passage in there and managed to elude capture. I can probably find a way to do something similar in Deus Ex. :ebil: Once I start getting the patrol paths memorized, and can plan ambushes, I'll probably try a melee weapon only game.
(Hang in there Marecki, so long as your difficulty level isn't too high you can survive without hacking. Once you get to the Rickenbacker on Impossible it's hard to resist taking out security, but otherwise you usually have enough hitpoints to survive the turrets there.)
Four endings? Hmmm. :ebil: Mind letting me in on your little secret?
That sucks I can't rejoin UNATCO, but hey, at least I still went ahead and assassinated the fello on the 747, some things will have to be different because of that. I'll just surrender as soon as I get a chance in Hell's Kitchen and leave Anna Navarre alive, although I'll miss Gunther being extremely upset over her death. Judging by how upset he got, methinks they had a rather . . . special . . . friendship. :joke:

The developers agree. Before ISA decided to implement multiple endings, the Helios ending was your only choice.

1. No
2. No.
Gunther is invincible, and even if you cheat to survive, the area is sealed off in the map, and the helicopter won't extract you (is it there at all?)
