Trying to play IW (yeah yeah, I know), and am having a couple issues with it. The first is it doesn't seem to be saving my video settings, resetting...something...every time I start the game, or load into a level (smooth one moment, jaggies the next). The other is some audio popping when moving around.
Due to the age of the game, it's been difficult to track down any support for these issues. Anyone here have any advice?

Sounds like it could be a permission problem. You did install the (only) patch for the game, right? That patch also increases performance quite a bit. You might want to try running the game as administrator if you're on Windows Vista+.
As for the sound, the Unreal engine used to have an extremely tweakable audio subsystem. You can change the buffer size/delay in milliseconds in one of the ini files. Increasing this might solve the stuttering problem.

On Windows XP and as admin, so not a permission problem.
If there's a patch, I assume Steam installed it.
I'll have to check around the .ini files for some audio configuration. It's not stuttering, however, but 'popping'. Like little clicks in the sound.

Trying again, made some progress.
Resolved the video settings issue by going into the user.ini and manually adjusting the AA multisampling. It seems that, despite setting it to 8 in game, it came up as 9 in the .ini file. For whatever reason, this confused the game and made it reset everytime I started the game or loaded a new level. Changing it to 8 in the .ini resolved this issue and now my video settings remain.
Still trying to figure out the audio problems. It's been forever since I've done audio tweaking in Unreal games, but I'm not seeing much in the way of options in the default.ini. Anyone have any ideas in this area?

Seems like a performance problem. Does it still do it when you drop the resolution?

Nah, not a performance issue. It just looks like that in the video because I'm looking around quickly while recording with fraps. In the game, I get a smooth 60fps.
