This patch improves performance alright! On my Radeon 9000, it now runs twice as well as it did pre-patch, and with slightly shorter loading times.

Although it isn't mentioned in the official readme, the patch also changes when the CD check is done so map loading times should be improved aaand also saves your settings globally rather than in your savegame file.

One thing I especially like: The game no longer cares what resolution I had set for my desktop.
And the framerate improvement is noticable, especially in those few areas which ran like I was playing Myst (the emerald suites, the mosque).

"First download the v1.2 patch from link above. Then open "My Documents", and copy and paste the Deus Ex: Invisible War folder to your desktop. Then uninstall the game, delete the Deus Ex: Invisible War folder out of the "Program Files" folder, and the "My Documents" folder. Then reinstall the game, and install the patch by double clicking the icon. Copy the Deus Ex: Invisible War folder from your desktop back into the My Documents folder to restore your saved games. "
Are they serious? I have to uninstall the whole thing just to install the patch?
