Game assets, and with main character they most likely used the highpoly assets pre-bake to have them look as highpoly as possible, but yes, all that visual work is from the studio, including the characters.
You'd be surprised with how many cinematic trailers can get away with using game content and still have it look like as if it wasn't. Remaking everything would be way too costy.
But this is besides the point, we've seen screenshots already, the game looks good.

Oh, the game definitely looks good. I certainly have no qualms with the visuals from the screenshots we've seen so far.

They better post a screenshot of the interface though, like the inventory, full of chips and orange juice.

The future is a little too advanced. I don't believe these sorts of things will be achieved within 17 years.

Technology sometimes develop exponentially in a funny way, look at how fast computers have evolved over the last 17 years.
