It took like two frag grenades to take him down
Have to go back a few saves and track down some grenades then. NOT a weapon I usually employ in these types of games.
Though I'm BARELY surviving long enough to get behind the jersey barrier -- I'd say 8 out of 10 tries I die before I even get that far... If I hold down the fire button after hitting "skip" for the cinematic, I maybe get off three rounds on the combat rifle before I'm mowed down... on EASY.
Pissing me off as I pretty much ghosted the game up to that point -- maybe two or three fatalities and ten or so KO's... and that's without spending into stealth as pretty much every point so far I've dumped into hacking.

I am now starting to get really agitated with energy.
Specifically the design decision that only the first energy cell recharges makes me want to punch some babies. I wish I could go back and switch the praxis points I spent in adding additional energy cells to other augmentations, because your other energy cells are always going to be empty and useless unless you fill them up with energy bars, and then you'll only gradually chip away at that energy with takedowns.
Other than cloak, I only use my energy for head punching, in which case there is ample time between takedowns for the single cell to recharge. Cloak is entirely unnecessary on "trash" enemies, and is only really useful for bosses - in which case, it only takes about a quarter of a second of cloak to completely confuse the hell out of the boss while they're firing, get behind them and smash their head in, so even then you can manage with just one cell. But it would be nice to have those other cells available given that I spent points on them.

Damn, that's one of my pet peeves. One of these days, someone needs to program enemy AI to shove a grenade down a vent if they know the player's camping there.
Half Life had exactly one scripted version of that; it needs to get dynamic in this day and age.
They'll do just that, if they're equipped with grenades. I've had the bad guys gas grenade me out of vents on a number of occasions. Problem is, only a rare few carry them around throughout the course of the game, so it's not something they take advantage of all that often.
If there were two things I'd change to make the game more difficult, it'd be this:
Keep the AI from clustering so tightly in front of vents for more than a couple of seconds. Or at least give them more grenades, so they have an excuse for doing so. It'd make escaping into the vents considerably more dangerous than it is now.
Dead body baiting. This is the AI's biggest weakness, and way too easily exploitable. I'm not an AI programmer, but I wouldn't imagine it'd be all that difficult to set it up so that if a guy sees more than two dead bodies within a rather large radius, they'll go instantly into alerted mode, instead of investigating.
As is, the AI can be about the most clever I've seen in awhile. They'll make excellent use of their surroundings, and actually use tactics that make sense, and use them smartly...in some cases. In others, they're incredibly easy to game once you figure out how to do so, and it makes everything a goodly bit easier than it should be.
Also, maybe we should listen to Matthew, and take these discussions to another thread. Or rename this one to something more appropriate, and start another review thread, since this one already has already got a few good bits of discussion going on already.

As you say, the problem is with the takedowns themselves. They should only eat 90% of a cell so it recharges afterwards. The other problem is that there isn't enough stuff that consumes energy. Strength should drain it faster. The X-Ray vision hardly drains it at all. That also makes Mark and Track a lot less useful. Icarus should drain a cell as well. There's really just no reason to get more cells.

Holy thread merge, Batman. That was... confusing. But good.
So I just hit the side quests up, just finished the one where you need to sneak around enemy gang territory. Very Deus Ex-y, I especially loved that one of my potential egress routes was... a sewer. Started to get some serious deja vu around that point. I love how fleshed out and detailed the hubs are.
Some of the quests don't make any sense - so I caught this dude stealing Nu-Poz, and instead of just manhandling the security footage out of him, I... need to do a quest for him? Wat? Wut? I almost considered knocking him out and just rifling his pockets -- I think I did, even, but the footage wasn't there. Could be misremembering it, because I did the same thing to O'Malley just for kicks, and of course the entire sub-quest tree around him terminated.
Inventory tetris - do people really like slotting things around a grid? Cuz while it's an integral part of DX and SS1/2, I've never held much regard for it. Sure I can see how it's a system of checks and balances essential to the Shooter-RPG system here; it's got its pros and cons, and I've got to hand it to EM, they went the whole hog with it -- it's essentially the same as those titles. But meh. I don't like slotting things around a grid much. It's not mechanically fun.
Apart from that, I could nitpick the graphics and models and animation and whatever to death like certain other folks, but I'd only do that if I were steadfastly determined not to enjoy the game no matter what. It's drawing me in so far; I haven't analysed the gameplay very deeply yet, but there's not much that's caused cognitive dissonance relative to the gameplay systems so far. We'll see though, I'm still just tooling around in the hub for now, so it's early yet.

Inventory Tetris is immersive. Don't need no dumbed down sorts it for me console BS. I need to organize everything I'm holding because damnit OCD is a helluva disorder.
Also, I need a memory refresh. In original DX, the MK-Ultras were the heavily armored blue guys with the big blast shields welded to their arms, right?

I seriously doubt it's the SDK. That newsticker has the same message on every platform.
Damn, probably just a DLC announcement then.
Btw, anyone else have issues with bugs regarding finishing quests? I ran into one that wouldn't let me finish a conversation with Megen's mother, thus killing the quest (Motherly Ties) completely. I've also heard there's a game stopping bug in the Cloak and Daggers quest, but I just started that one.

Yep, I failed Cloaks and Daggers thanks a spawning bug. Lovely.

I've run into some trouble with the Tranq rifle killing people. I tranq'd 5 gangbangers from a rooftop, and when I clambered down to loot them, one was dead. I reloaded and made sure I got the "Merciful Soul" XP bonus for all 5 of them, but one of them was still dead when I went back down and checked them.
Glitch? Or was it something I did?
