I'm digging it too, but...I just finished the first section of the game. Hopefully the levels get a bit more...creative? Seems a bit boxy and Doom3ish so far, but I'm still pretty early on.
The gameplay itself is pure Deus Ex, from what I've seen so far. And I love the fact that you can turn off the on-screen prompts, object highlighting, etc. Maybe there is actually hope for Thi4f.

This fucking game is eating up hours of my time and I have no idea where they went. I keep wanting to play more,
more, find out what happens
next, I still have to do
this thing, but wait, don't forget
that, can I get in
there?Fuck me, it's just like playing DX1 all over again. Only the sound doesn't crackle.
I ended up going to bed at about 6AM this morning. I woke up at 10, and had to rush and cram just to get my daily checklist done.
I'm running on 4 hours of sleep, I've got a bad case of cottonmouth, and I can only occasionally remember my name. This isn't a normal problem with me, because I can usually play a game for an hour or two a night, and go to bed at a decent hour. Not with HR. It's too good. Like you, I've gotta keep playing to figure out what happens next. To see what's in store for me, what twist I'll have to contend with, or what interesting place I'll get to visit next.
I just want it to end so I can go to sleep. :(

There are some places that have a very clean lined, Mirrors Edge feel to them later on in the game. Personally, I preferred the more gritty, boxy industrial levels myself. Feels more oldschool DX.

I love the art style. The intro is one of the most stylish I've seen. Reminds me of the Metroid Prime menu.
The game itself looks fab, but I'm not so sure about the wall hug mechanic yet. I'd prefer lean.

Have you ever fallen asleep with your mouth hanging open, and you wake up the next morning with it all dried out, and it feels funny for the rest of the day? Cottonmouth.

I am very pleasantly surprised with how Deus Ex-y this game is. The developers definitely caught everything about the first game that made it what it was and got it all pretty much perfect.
Although, playing as a sneaky guy, this game so far has not presented any significant kind of challenge and doesn't require as much of a patience "trade off" as maybe it should. Especially with wall hugging and leaping from cover to cover, it's a breeze to just sneak by, punch a couple people in the back of the head, then leave them as bait for other people you'll want to punch in the back of the head. The punch in the head button seems kind of overpowered in general, with its only balancing feature being that it costs energy - which is then unbalanced again by the fact that you'll have filled half your inventory with energy bars by the time you get to anyone to punch.
But, I am having a blast, and I am very happy with the sneaking and the hacking and what not in this game. I'm kind of curious why they wasted development time, money and resources to make these rendered movies though - their quality is atrocious compared to the game engine. Probably just an easy way to inflate the disc usage.

Agreeing on the Deus Ex-y-ness. It does feel pretty Deus Ex doesn't it? I'm on the streets exploring at there's something very familiar about it. Nice.
I'm playing it on hardest and man do you die quick. As usual I'm a stealthy pragmatist. Weapons of choice are non-lethal close combat and the stun gun but I'll swap out to pistol if need be.
I hope I can enhance my pistol with accuracy and silencer mods.
The only thing I don't like so far is the lack of iron sights for the stun gun. It means I have to have the reticule on and I really don't want it.

I gotta say, the game is wonderful...up until the second boss fight. Then it's just flat out goddamn FUCKING STUPID!
Okay, I'm gonna vent here. No spoilers. But I'll explain how it goes, so you all can prepare yourselves for the absolute clusterfuck that is the second boss.
Boss has a typhoon type attack. If you're playing on Give Me Deus Ex difficulty, it'll instally kill you if they fire it off in point blank range, and will drop you below 10 health if you're within like 30 FUCKING FEET of it when it detonates. Another problem is that the boss runs at about as fast as you sprint the whole damn time. As in when you hit shift and get that little burst of speed. The boss is running that fast ALL THE TIME! And even worse? If the boss detonates the typhoon in certain spots, it takes out a conduit that electrifies THE WHOLE FUCKING FLOOR! You have no safe spots to run to when this happens. And even if you did, you're perpetually below 25 health because of the goddamn blowing up typhoon bullshit, so you'd die before you could get to them anyway.
And of course the boss takes a huge amount of damage. So far, I've unloaded 2 clips of my combat rifle into their head, and they're STILL ALIVE!
You basically have this game that uses a realistic damage model throughout. Then suddenly you're put up against a boss from an arcade shooter, but you yourself still use the damn realistic damage model. The setup for it is awesome, but the actual fight? Oh hell. It's like they asked the art designer's mouthbreathing gashuffing brother-in-law to think of something that'd be "totally rad", then threw it in for shits and giggles. Cuz, you know, he really needs the self esteem boost.
After about 60 reloads (on a conservative count), I'm getting a little tired of it.
Edit: I did it. Holy shit, I did it. I now understand why everyone hates the boss fights in this game. They really are out of place.

Ugh... thanks for the warning though, I haven't gotten to a boss fight yet but I'm not really looking forward to any of them.
Other than this type of BS, most of y'all really seem to be enjoying the game. I certainly am. Don't think I've seen such near-unanimous praise for anything here at TTLG for a long time, if ever.
I only just finished the first mission at the plant, and I guess I'm about to start exploring the Detroit hub. I'm glad they were able to sort out the loading time issues. They're MUCH better now.

The first boss fight isn't so terrible. It's a little against the grain, but isn't so totally different that it feels like something out of an entirely different game. The second one is, as you've read, an entirely different matter. You're basically bunny hopping, spamming bullets, throwing mines out, and hoping against hope for a best case scenario. It feels like something out of Unreal Tournament, mixed with Painkiller, with the odds stacked totally against you. Totally out of place compared to the somewhat realistic, careful, patient game you've been playing up til that point.
It's nowhere near enough to ruin HR for me. But it has kinda put me off of it for the night.
