Thanks guys. Yeah, dethy, this is the panel that Malik wants hacked at the Hive (balcony floor). I didn't know the game offered auto-unlocking devices; I'll have to go back to load a previous save then since I got pissed off and just went on to the Tai Medical mission (haven't finished it yet). At this point, the nasties that came to the Pods looking to kill the Hacker have managed to kill everyone there so there'd be no one there to sell me one of those. There was a warning on the screen (in-game when I headed to Tai Medical) that if I chose to travel to the next area all side-quests left unfinished would be cancelled, so I guess I'll need to go back & reload since I really don't like quitting anything.
My capture software is already at level 4, so this particular security panel shouldn't be giving me the grief it has; but damned if I can hack it (I think I've tried about a dozen times already)! Great way to start the morning, no? ;)
Btw, got a kick out of the start of Tai Medical: it had me jumping, climbing and ducking just like Lara. It seemed more of a challenge than the previous areas .... until I realized that there's a freight elevator right there and I could stop stacking crates looking for a way out (or in). :laff:
Thanks again. :thumb:

there is another seller in the hung hao hotel and the game has many AUDs lyling around for you to find, I had 24 AUDs in the last level, I guess you should do more exploring. also: if you put an AUD on the panel all the guards in the Hive will get suspicious or even hostile if they can see you. so:
stealh - plant AUG
HIDE b4 interacting with the panel, wait for alertmeter to go down
stealth again
interact with panel
leave Hive

The automatic unlocking devices are a DLC item. And yes, that means there are absolutely no AUDs in the regular version.

Awcrap. I've got the retail version. Why in hell would EM do something like that? I hate to go all teen-angst, but that's just not fair! Sucks. :(
On a different note: I've NEVER been able to ghost ANY game before, so this was a pleasant surprise:

(Til I get to the next Boss, that is.)

I easily made it through the game with no AUDs. I am glad my ver. doesn't have them.
mothra on 16/9/2011 at 15:47
u don't need them, that's true. that's why I got so many at the end. and I thought you only get EXTRA auds thru the tong-dlc, not that they are exclusive to the DLC.

I bought the game retail at a local Gamestop, this version was named "Nordic edition", and it 'behaves' like a pre-order (the rescue Tracer Tong mission came with it, as well as a sniper rifle and a special shotgun, and it thanked me for pre-ordering the game (which I didn't) when I had entered the code that came with the DVD).
AND (my point...) - I had tons of AUDs in the game. I only ever used three or four though, I think.

The DX:HR Wiki used to say that the AUDs were not exclusive to the DLC. But now suddenly it does.

I don't know who to believe any more. Because there are people who swear up and down that AUDs can be found without the DLC. Only that they are much more rare. Instead of littered all over the place.

Well, the "Explosive Mission preorder pack" is part of my retail DVD version, as I said, without preordering. I guess that's where the confusion comes from; lots of different ways of packaging the game.
There was one room in particular towards the end of the game, where I think I picked up maybe five or six of them. Before that, they had been rather scarce.
