Sathras: I'm curious what other minor fixes you've implemented with your DeusEx.u.
Also, how difficult was it to recompile it? Could you compile just the UnrealScript or did you have to extract and appropriately setup all the textures and meshes to repack them into the .u?
(It's been a few years since I worked with UnrealScript... I hope my question makes sense...)

I only have a fixed DeusEx.u for the standard Deus Ex GOTY edition. Which - sadly - is pointless for HDTP as that uses its own version to use the upgraded textures.
Oh, GotY is the version I am using, so the HDTP won't make any or much difference? I had tried to install it and saw the message "many claim not to see much difference" (or similar) so I didn't think much of it when I didn't notice a big change.
the one true thief, damn that is one sweet fix, thanks! :)
Can't tell you how long that has bugged the crap out of me and the game looks much better now, without those GIANT IONS! ;)

Of course it makes a difference! :) It's just that you often don't notice that it is an upgraded texture as you don't have the old one to compare. If you have a look at the demo level the HDTP team put together it's pretty obvious.

I just tried the HUD size fix. LOL, it's unreadable with it enabled @ 1680*1050.

And this came as a surprise to you?

Seems fine to me.

I'm doing a play through of Deus Ex at the moment with HDTP installed, and I was wondering if there is any progress being made at all these days? or is everything put on hold until Deus Ex: Reborn is released? While I really like the current release so far, I'm not too keen on Gunther's new model. There's something with the animations and the mouth movements that look a little too weird.

I'm not really a fan of the Gunther model either. The original had something that made him almost lovable, the new one is just scary. In fact, the same goes for the JC and Paul models. Walton Simons is fine, since he's supposed to be a creepy bastard.

The problem with the Gunther model is that it makes him look smaller and younger. Definitely less imposing.

They've hit a brick wall when it came to animating the new models. The new Gunther was painstaking animated by hand by one dude. The major milestone of Release 2 will probably just be the new weapon models and then they'll probably just wash their hands of the project, giving the Reborn team full access to their work.
