Well I never said bad criticism is good, but maybe I should've been a little clearer on that.
Having worked with HDTP I know mod teams, especially mod teams giving something NEW to a much loved game, should be respected and not given comments like "LOL, Gunther look like poo on end of baton", but instead of telling them to fuck off, you could just advise to actually think about what the guys are doing and to ADVISE them to point out whats wrong.
But I do know some people aren't just like that :(

but I guess expecting gratitude from some people is too much to ask for.
If I like and use something, I will express my gratitude. If I don't like it, I'll just say so. I don't owe anything to someone who chose to do something on his own if I don't use it, and I don't see why I should give more explanations. I may if I feel something has potential, but otherwise I would consider it's only a waste of time.
So yes, expecting gratitude for everything is too much to ask for.

Note that there is a difference between intelligent, informed, constructive criticism and being a twat. An example of the former would be "I don't like the Gunther model because...". Gunsmoke decided instead to say he hates it, giving no reason, and basically acting like a dick about someone's hard work.
None of the people behind HDTP, DX:R, NV - or frankly
any modification should have to put up with idiots like him. Luckily I haven't run into anyone saying that about NV - although frankly I thought that would be the same case for HDTP but I guess expecting gratitude from some people is too much to ask for. Thankfully most of the Deus Ex community isn't so fucking stupid, otherwise I wouldn't continue working on NV.

Wow, way to be respectful. If you don't like it, don't use it - you don't have to be a dick about it. Who the hell are you to be criticising artists' work anyway?
Someone who uses it?
If you put your work out for public use then expect it to be critiqued/criticised by the public. This ranges from useful criticism to useless criticism. "I hate the G. Hermann model" is somewhere in between in my opinion. Whilst it doesn't go into detail about what it is that is wrong with it, I have heard several other people express discontent about it
TTLG is hardly the forum for expressing EXACTLY what is wrong with a mod that is nothing to do with us and so it's reasonable, I think, to say you don't like it without producing a lot to back it up. Obviously I'd like him to as it would promote polite, civil discussion :D but as it is, saying he hates it is a fair criticism.

Well, I never directly told him to fuck off, although I certainly have that sentiment. I won't show any respect for someone who shows such blatant disrespect for someone's hard work.
Papy, you misunderstand where I'm coming from. I specifically attacked Gunsmoke (note that I do not make comments about anyone else saying they don't like it) because he was being a dick. I don't agree with showering the HDTP team with glory no matter what they do, as you seem to be suggesting. However, since they are taking their time to make something good for the community, the least the community can give back is a bit of respect i.e., not giving them comments saying they hate the work they're doing or think it's pointless. As I said, luckily people like that are in the minority.
Out of curiosity - have you ever been involved in a mod, Papy?

What files do you have to delete/rename in order to disable the HDTP's Gunther model anyway? I noticed that the project runs off of its own ini files, does anything have to be done there?

DeusEx.U

I just want to disable Gunther's model AND keep the rest of the HDTP content.

Will Reborn (UT2k4) implementation of dynamic shadows look better than that of Thief 3?
I'd imagine that it wouldn't be as much as a performance hog as Flesh's unoptimised code.

If there was a way, I would have said. Unless there's an option in the installer, there's no way to do this because all the new content is stored in Deusex.u .

Bottom line: DX needs a proper remake.
