I have an AMD Athlon XP 2000 with XP Pro. Now, I don't want to just say, "DX Crashes all the time, sometimes it makes my computer reset, too", but that's what happens.
But what I'm really asking is that are there any advanced settings (ie. in DeusEx.ini) that really should be turned OFF or ON using Direct3D? I have a Geforce 4 MX440.
I don't think my video card is overheating, since it's not that hot after it crashes (since I felt it). My CPU isnt' overheating either. My system well exceeds the specs... also my PS should be plenty. It's 280 watts I believe, and it hasn't crashed in more... graphically intense games, so it's not that my PS isn't big enough.
Thanks. I hope you can shed some light on the situation.

I too was duped into buying the Geforce4, It sucks ass big time, nearly all of the problems, games related or not, i traced back to that card. you get what you pay for.
While deus ex has never crashed on me, or caused the machine to reset, other stuff has, especially Warcraft3 ROC.
the mmx chip (mines on a mentor card) was designed for fiddling with clock speeds,
Its more or less a bumped up Geforce 2 with knobs on. it doesnt even have a pixel shader.
plus its a budget card which means heap of shit, Im gettin a 5900, i would suggest u do the same.
The only other thing I can suggest is that you try updating your drivers, your specs are pretty similar to mine. Im running with Detonator 29.42
sorry I cant be more helpful
