I have just gotten Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition. Before I start playing a game, I always download and install all available patches, fixes and upgrades (both official and fan-made, but NOT any mod that changes the fundamental gameplay, story and plots.) I have been looking for a patch for Deux Ex: GOTY Edition and not been able to find any. Is there a patch for it? Thanks.

When you start Deus Ex, and you look at the main menu, does it tell you what version you're running?
If it says 1.112fm, you have the latest. If not, you may need something. I think some GotY versions (released with the Creative Audigy) had mis-matched files. I have a little .exe that will tell you your version number if you want it, and yes, it's clean, I made it with NSIS. It just checks your registry though, so if you know how to do that, you don't need it.
As far as the latest community patch, that's MTL version 1.52 beta 1, which was the last version made by Smuggler in 2002. A newer version of MTL has been in production, and is (relatively) close to release. The MTL forums (Deus Ex Anti-Cheating and Bug-Fixing Forums) are located here: (
http://mtl.deusexgaming.com/index.php)
I released an installer (check my other thread) which comes with all the multiplayer maps I could find, and it automatically installs the MTL 1.52b1 patch, as well as the no-CD fix, an OpenGL rendering update (if you use OpenGL), and a server security patch (prevents others from crashing your server... an Unreal Engine bug, not specifically Deus Ex). You only "need" the official patch, because if you don't have the MTL patch, it will be downloaded into cache as soon as you join a server which uses it. You won't get the other benefits of MTL though if it's just in cache, but they're minor benefits.
Any questions, lemme know.

(sorry for the topic revival)
Getting into the same issue here.
I have a Special Limited edition here and so far, none of the patches are working, and I can't install any fanmade mods, wrong version.
version is 1.003OEM, so this is definitely a disk that was included with a card of some sorts.
Using dxmmai-installer-fix and dxmmai seems to work. thanks!
Spoke too soon. Broke my install.
Class PlayerPawn Member Player problem: Script=1488 C++=1492
(looking at the install path) wow.. It's actually a *preview* edition!
Deus Ex Preview Edition
folder: d:\deusex
version: 1003f_OEM5
It's like a gimped little brother!
Oh well, it's still working for now without the patches. I don't think this PC would handle the high res textures anyway.
According to Eidos:
>If you have the Special Limited edition, the Preview edition, or the Lock'N'Load edition, there are no patches available.
Did you know I actually picked up another Deus Ex box at 99 cents, although I realized later it was the Macintosh edition? I'll NEVER get to play this game correctly...

I believe the one you got is the version that includes only the first 3 levels or so. It's a shame they had to trick customers like this.

It's ok. The disk was included with something like a soundcard, and some stores actually un-bundle games when they sell the hardware to a company or include it in a pre-built computer, then put these in the "bargain bin". Some of them are full games, some of them are demos. I must have paid something like 5$ for it a few months ago.

Back in the day OEM versions were you usually "preview editions" such as this, more content than a free demo, but still not the full game.
In recent years OEM bundled games are usually the full version, thank god.
