Hello,
I have a Mac mini Intel Core solo (early 2006) running Mac OS X 10.4.10.
There is no version of the game for Mac OS X on Intel machines, that's why I must use a virtual machine and Windows.
Via Fusion 1.0 I installed Windows XP SP2 (with 512 of RAM and 3D acceleration) in which I installed the game Deus Ex (GOTY ed).
Today I played it fine, in full screen at 1600x1200.
However later today I updated to Fusion 1.1, increased the VM's RAM to 768 and tried Direct3D and OpenGL rendering instead of software for Deus Ex but the game appeared extremely slow and I couldn't choose a resolution superior to 1280x800, so I tried to go back to software rendering but it didn't work because of some conflict between the installed setup and the CD setup, anyway, I have restored the default game and game user configuration file, which fixed the speed issue, but not the resolution, and the game began to flash (or blink), the lower the resolution the faster it flashes.
I've tried, with 1.1 then back with 1.0, repaired VMwareTools, tried Fusion fullscreen or windowed, it's the same : it's flashing and stuck at 1280x800 (= unplayable).
The only thing is that when the game is windowed it doesn't flash.
PS : I have posted on VMware forums but I'm posting here too since I don't know what is causing the issue and thought you might be familiar with it.

Get a real computer.

If you had understood what I wrote you would know that it's not a hardware issue. Plus my computer's performances are more than enough for that game.
Unless you are going to give me the money to buy whatever you suggest, I'll ask you to keep your useless comments, clear ?

Unix is by far a superior OS to windows, not necessarily because M$ has to make their software for a broad spectrum of hardware but because of the hassle of a registry-based program architecture (to name one issue).
That being said, did you delete the entire directory after uninstall or just modify/replace it with another config.ini file? I'm not totally sure of the problem myself but I could try figuring it out with you. Is your mini a dual core? Try disabling one core affinity for DX when you start it up (under task manager), see if that doesn't stop the flickering, although you may do that already since DX likes to speed up with both cores.

If you mean the game I just replaced DeusEx.ini and User.ini

It's solo as mentioned, with only one core selected.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled both the game and Fusion, it's the same.
I've uninstalled VMware Tools and reinstalled them to revert the changes made by 1.1 but still no luck.

All I'm saying is that you shouldn't have wasted your money on a Mac.
User was put on probation for this post

Macs tend to have a higher resale value than other computers. But really, nobody asked you to come here and be an asshole.

I'm not sure what exactly it is that's causing it, did you try reducing the vRAM back to default? If it's not the vram it's probably fusion, which I can't help you with there (I'm running Windows with bootcamp on my mini).

I don't see a video RAM option so it must still be default.

Ok I think I've got it.
I thought I had first started the game in software rendering but it was in Direct3D.
Direct3D has no problem with resolution (can go fullscreen at 1600x1200 without flashing) but textures are messed up and there is no lightning (I didn't realize this).
Software rendering renders fine but is limited to 640x480 or 800*600 and flashes in fullscreen.
(OpenGL is very slow)
Which one do you use Spaztick ?

Well I'm on a 17" monitor so I always just used software render with 1440x900 res. I would recommend OpenGL, but what does it mean when you say it's slow, does it look choppy, or does everything just animate slowly?
