Bought'd and bought'd. I'll probably replay both in the fall, well in time for a likely Christmas release of Human Revolution.

Well I hope I'm not jinxing it, but I've now had a couple of lengthy evening playthrough sessions using this new launcher, and it appears to have cured the problem. Thanks again guys - you've just brought a couple of frustrating weeks to a swift end! :thumb:
DDL raises a good point though: mods. Voice acting isn't really an issue for most DX mods out there but I was planning to fire up The Nameless Mod after this, so I don't know if I'll get the same problem with that. Oh well, I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
