... but then you'll have to ask Steam for permission to play *your* game that *you* paid for. Why not buy a used copy instead? It is $3 more because of shipping, but you get a *real* disk and it will still work 10 years from now, regardless of whether Steam is still around.

Also, if he bothered to read around, he might discover that there are various modified launchers around that you can use to replace the exe that *your* steam copy of DX comes with, so you can play *your* game whenever *you* want.

Or hell, just back up the fucking .exe from the CD and keep it on a USB stick. Then you can always get every DX file you ever wanted from steam at any time, and on any computer, and just overwrite the .exe.

Job done.
