Whoa! Nice detail. Especially the lighting looks good. The sharp shadow of the robot is however bit silly. I hope T3 will have smoother shadows like in dark engine.
In overall, that video looks stunning, but I would like to say that level design in that video is pretty simple. Objects are detailed, but the actual design is not that special. I would do the same anytime. :P :joke:

Well, found it myself:

Drop-dead gorgeous! To make DX2 not only shine in the gameplay department, but also visually, the latest version of the Unreal engine is used, while Havok technology takes care of the physics - which have never been this good. The reporter was wondering why Harvey Smith shot a harmless desk chair, but the next moment it spun around accurately.

I'm not too pleased with the smoking glow of the EMP granade though... Sure, it might be useful in the dark or areas where it'd bouncs around much, but it just looks like a "let's make it look pretty!!" idea. Why the heck would an EMP granade smoke glowing blue gas?
*also thinke the puff of smoke the basic pistol in Doom3 emits looks more ridiculous than anything else*

Yeah, a glowing blue EMP grenade looked kind of silly to me too. It's reminiscent of something you'd expect to see in a magic game. Kinda looked like a teletubby in spirit form. Personally, I liked the EMP pulse release graphics in the first Deus Ex. Still, guess we'll have to wait and see if it'll ship with the game or if it'll get axed. I can't say enough good things about the interface and real time shadows though. And the sound definitely says IMMERSION:)

A few thoughts:
I agree about that whole blue smoke thing, it really just looks weird, and reminiscent of the plasma grenades in Halo. It seems more like generic "flashy special effects" sci-fi rather than DX1's "a semblence of realism" sci-fi.
Does anyone understand what was with the travel of the EMP grenade itself? The player seemed to throw it at the ground, then it seemed to bounce around and home in on the robot.
Hmm, the EMP grenade doesn't seem to be casting light on the walls and floor during it's flight and explosion. Odd, for a weapon that's bright whitish-blue. Also odd that the arcs of electricity it gives off fly off and dissipate in midair, and aren't attracted to those large metal pipes just a few feet away. It's hard to tell from the resolution, but the explosion graphic also seems to suffer from that weird 2-dimensional graphic that ends up getting cut off at the floor, like a lot of the gas graphics in DX1 were.
The shadows did look a bit sharp, but I was very impressed with their motion. The bot and it's shadow both moved very fluidly.
The pistol didn't eject shell casings... have they not been added yet, or have the weapon designs become (
http://matrix.dumpshock.com/raygun/basics/caseless.html) caseless?
(End nitpicking)
Edit: My mistake, one of the electric arcs DID hit a pipe, I just missed it.

Hmm... seems like that'd make it hard to get two bots with one grenade (can't get it between them)...

well thx, I did finished DE (that was my first time to finish it) with my slow ass system, but on the easiest diffcuty. I think buying a new one would be better to upgrade my stone age computer.

Impressive... now it's time to start bugging Ion Storm for a Thief trailer.

i hope they make the shadow casting sharpness depend on how bright the light source is, as it does in reality... the shadows casted in it from everything we've seen look as though they're casted by sunlight...
