Deus Ex 2 screenshots... whats so great about them? - by Dark Angel

Alright, i'm just wondering what everyone seems to like about them so much.... the poly counts on the meshs are really high, they're very smooth yes, thats nice.... but the lighting is pretty horrible, i have to say. i understand that they're probably still working on it and all but they're very fake looking to me. They remind me of the shadows in Blade of Darkness, theres no real depth to them and they're much to sharp on the edges rather than smooth as they should be. They are real-time though which is great.... but if they show it like this at e3 then Blood Rayne is going to make it look really bad ;)
Then there's the notorious texture over-smoothing from Unreal's render which you see in every Unreal game.. *sigh* i thought they would have fixed that by now :nono:
i really hope the end product turns out better..

Those shots are very pre-E3 and don't take into account any of the E3 content work that we've done. Better shots will be out shortly.
Also, that "texture over-smoothing" is due to the horrible super-high jpg compression that's killing detail all over those pics.

You know, this is all about fans. I bought thief2, despite of it being hella lame. I watched blade2, even though this movie is crap. And I'm gonna buy DX2, no matter whether it's good or not, no matter whether the critics like it or not. If you're still apable of rational thinking when it comes to DX - kudos for you. I'm not.
And besides: The unreal tournament-engine for DX wasn't all that good, either. Trust ion storm - they're gonna od it right.

I'm very confident about, you and the DX2 team will make one extraordinary game !

What is texture over-smoothing? In the first Deus Ex, the textures looked flat, and didn't really look like they had depth...for the most part, brick walls looked perfectly smooth and flat, the bricks didn't have depth, and alot of the textures were dull and not very vivid, compared to alot of games. Will Deus Ex 2 be different?

Let's not forget the problem about them all being too darn small! :)
*wants BIG screenshots*

"The game was unfortunaly both jerky and flat graphically, despite some amounts of advanced effects" :(
So he saw it in motion at E3 (Doesn't mention if it was Xbox or PC version)...
I hope the graphics will improve a lot, I wasn't that impressed. And please do not make Denton and AIs too short, this thing usually happens with Quake, Unreal and many other engine based games.
The Enemy is according to Aftonbladet;
"This time WTO fights against the religious sect The Order"
Apparently the Swedish aftonbladet weren't that impressed about it;
