The game doesn't really pander specifically to the console crowd, if anything it's a weird mix of that has both consolized touches (huge ass text that can be read from 500 feet away) and PCized touches (mouse driven inventory). The gameplay itself is also somewhere in between, you have multiple choices when approaching situations and plenty of depth, but alot of the little touches that make most PC games cooler in comparison have been taken away in favor of a more simplified approach.
It's like DX2 was an experiment to see if they could develop a game for 2 platforms without leaning too heavily towards either one...and as it turns out it feels more like a bastard child of the 2.
I still liked the demo despite having more than a few issues with it, though. I'll buy it when it comes out, but I hope that ISA learned their lesson with this game and spends more time with the PC version of Thief III.

I'm sure they will:cool:
Deus Ex was allready a nearly perfect:thumb: game so probably we were expecting to much of Invisible War. It's not that bad. It's a decent game but sadly not as good as I hoped:tsktsk:
But Thief 1 and 2 were allready great games, despite of the fact that there were a lot things that could be improved. Despite the poor graphics and no multiplayer, Lglass did a great job with the sound/music, atmosphere, detailed environments, talk and superb level design. Expect to see the same things in Thief III that made its predecessors so damn good, and with beautiful engine and perhaps (at least I hope) some sort of multiplayer this will be the ultimate Stealth game.
But perhaps the Unreal Warfare engine is not suited for games like Invisible War and Thief 3. Maybe ION should create their own engine. The Dark 2 Engine perhaps:cheeky:

They did create their own engine. They basically replaced most of the elements of the Unreal engine while leaving the basic structure intact.

They just kept UnrealEd and rewrote most of the rest from scratch.

...and the million dollar question is..... was it worth it?

First impressions: WTF?!
I can cope with the lack of weapon reloading. The unified ammo pool doesn't bother me. Even the HUD is bearable. But why the heck do you have to escape out of the inventory menu and press a different key to access the datavault? Were players really being confused hopelessly by the tabbed interface in the original DX?
The controls also bother me a bit. This is the first game I've ever played where crouch defaults to a toggle, and there doesn't seem to be an option to change that. This is seriously disorientating. Sure, I'll get used to it after a few hours, but I don't understand why the option isn't there. Then there's the way you apparently can't remap the biomod keys. Those function keys are a bit of a stretch.
Sure, petty details... and the gameplay itself is actually quite good. But I can only join in the general chorus of "why is this so @!&?ing unpolished?!"

You've never played Thief or System Shock2? Shame on you!

Ok, can someone be unbearably specific about which settings to change to speed up the interface.
People say change the mouselag. I look, I find something called MouseLagThreshold
Someone says change the key speeds or something from 1.0 to 0.8.
I find what seems to be the same thing but the keys are "W__d" "A__d" etc or "Left__d", "Up__d" etc and the strafe values are negative. Confusing since I use neither cursor keys nor WASD.
Are these the right ones? I don't feel like changing too many things trial and error
edit: Never mind, I'll try the widget instead

I really like being able to READ in-game text, Deus Ex had too small a font-size for my tastes (was there a font changing ability). Furthermore, I prefer playing games on my tele in the living room sitting several feet away from the tv, rather than having to peer up close at a tiny font.
Not much to do with the game, haven't played the demo, but I'd rather have a medium-large font than a small one. But ideally there would be the ability to customise the font size to your preference in most games.
