Athlon XP 1700+
KT333 Mobo
512Mb Corsair PC4000 DDR
Geforce 3 (non Ti)
Soundblaster Live.
Cept for the ram it's a pretty midline setup. I'd say about 300 bucks worth of upgrades will get me up and running...thing is, I'm not quite ready to do that yet.

Crud, mine's behind yours:
Athlon 1400, Geforce 3 ti500, 512MB PC2100 DDR.

Argh. It keeps crashing every time I try to do the first area transition. :/
To top it off, it won't save my key config or anything.
Other than that, it runs great but I can't say for sure how it looks yet. ;)
Renzatic on 21/11/2003 at 22:03
The Ti500 MIGHT give you a tiny advantage over mine, but since your processor is a bit slower I'm thinking it'll run at a similar framerate.
I recommend setting it to low light detail, medium shadows, no AA or bloom, at 800x600. It'll still look fairly alright, and it runs well enough so that it's playable..but the choppiness will get on your nerves after a few.
And Arnal, go to the DX2 install directory, find the user.ini file, rightclick and go to its property settings and uncheck read only. It'll save your config after that.

That's actually the first thing I did, but it still doesn't save my key settings.
Doesn't matter, the game has crashed on me a number of times, while loading a save, changing area and even activating a biomod. :/

Have just noticed that there is a DXIW folder in My Documents, with a read only user ini, perhaps thats the cause.

Grins like an idiot
This is pretty smooth on my ancient system*, and still looks pretty damn good.
*we're talking 850mhz here.
No skill points though...
Incidently, two big demos in two days (Max Payne 2 being the other), Fileplanet is on a roll.
Celtic_Thief on 21/11/2003 at 23:32
Well, I'm waiting to download this from Fileplanet, and guess what? I only have to "wait in line" for about 20 minutes. If you're going to download this, now would be a good time. Right now.

Managed to explore most of the demo (I think) but I still can't get into the Greasal Pit without it crashing.
Only thing that concerns me is that despite the great lighting and models, the world detail and textures are not impressive at all. I would hope that the demo isn't using the most detailed textures available, but what I find slightly shabby is that if you look at the windows, there's no frame or anything, just a big hole in the brickwork with a glass texture in it.
My view is that the XBox is to blame. ;(

Demo wont run at all for me :(
it sorta freezes with a blank screen...
when I give ti teh Three Finger Salute to get back to the desktop it says somethign about needing a graphics card with Pixel Shader 1.1 capability.
after that a few more error messages including the ubiquitous "Illegal Opeartion"
*sigh*
guess its time to replace the old GeForce2 32meg...
