Ummm... you must be reading some different comments from the ones I've seen. :weird:

Not everyone cares about reloading that much. ;)

I haven't played the demo, but how important is this in the game, do the other characters in the game still run like headless chickens or do they not notice the weapon?

I was so pissed when I realized I accidently used up ALL my ammo shooting a corpse. Give me my damn reloading!

The demo seems to indicate a PRETTY GOOD game, whereas had the XBox factor not been present, I'm sure it would've been a FANTASTIC game.
The saddest thing for me, is realizing that Thief 3 is sure to be the same story.
DX2 and Thief 3 remain must-plays, but they will just be short of what they could have, and should have been.

I have just had a happy thought.
IW is gona have mod tools right? (can any self respecting PC game NOT have them these days?)
Well if after consideration in the context of the full game any of those strange little design decision are still annoying anyone quite a few of them could be 'fixed'.
Location based damage,
weapon specific ammo,
finite ammo magazines/clips
even a Holster Weapon/item key
are things that im sure any decent mod team could add back in faster then you can say Alex Denton.

Location based damage IS in the game. Over on the ION Storm forums it was posted that the demo was tweaked to have more combat action. Head shots do count and the retail release will act appropriately.
Weapons can be holstered by pressing the number key that corresponds to their slot on the toolbelt. Not as good as a dedicated holster key but it works.

Holstering weapon key is there, and you can even set it in the demo (via ini edit), if you know the name of the keyboard keys. Otherwise, press 1 thru 6 to select and deselect (ie: holster) tools.
Main concern with no reload seems to be those that are not used to it yet (it was like HEY! WHERE"D MY AMMO GO? THIS GAME SUKKS!)
Am I the only one who really likes the new in-game interface (0%)? Much more non-intrusive, and more viewspace on the edge of the screen!
But yes, no leaning is bad. I missed lean forward in Deus Ex.
Anybody else notice the Thief - like catapult-jump bugs? I was catapulted a few times on ladders (bottom to top, then fall damage) and going through windows (flying back in the wrong direction).
People and objects also will melt and merge into the ground.
