Deus Ex. 1280x1024. Scale HUD? - by Nomad Prophet

I am playing through Deus Ex again. I am running it in 1280x1024 resolution.
The HUD is extremely large in proportion to the rest of the screen - is there a way I can edit something somewhere in a .cfg file or something to make the HUD smaller?

I dont think you can do anything about it.the max resoulution that will use the normal hud is 1152*864 (I think),just use that and add some FSAA and you should be fine..

this."
"Then don't do that!"
(frickin' resolution whores...)

Quite often out of necessity. Several monitors take several seconds to change a resolution, other games may crash if they are not in the same resolution as the desktop...
While it may make it easier for system admins and forum bitches to restrict such things, many people prefer to use their computers in the manner that they choose.

Deus Ex, however, invokes neither of those issues.

On YOUR setup.
The Unreal Engine is a strange beast. I personally have a kind of wallhack effect on certain maps, which is not making me popular in the DXMP community. I do not believe it impossible that under certain configurations, Deus Ex might have graphics-related issues, especially on newer hardware.

Yeah you're right, the HUD is fine in 1152x864 or less, but anything higher than that isn't scaled correctly.
However 1152x864 resolution isn't available in the menu as I don't think my current monitor (Hyundai Imagequest L90D+) supports it as it's not a 4:3 ratio monitor (native resolution 1280x1024).

BZZT, wrong. The HUD is scaling exactly as the programmers intended. DX only scales the HUD by whole values, so it's 1x up to 1152x864, then 2x above that. The relative size of the HUD at 1280x1024 is identical to its relative size at 640x480.
The programmers quite rightly surmised that at such stupidly high resolutions the HUD would be so tiny that doubling its size would be necessary to preserve legibility.

It's only available in OpenGL I believe. And ZB is 100% right on the hud scaling.

Of course by the time you get up to 1600x1200 it looks fine again.
