I've continued a playthrough of the original Deus Ex that I had started earlier in the year but I am thinking of starting new games because I don't care for how my build is panning out nor my mod setup. What really drove this home for me is when it crashed it the Luminous Path Compound right after witnessing the truce being made and my last save was back in the Lab right after stealing the ROM Module.
First of here is my Character Framework
General Build Framework
Starting Skills
Heavy Weapons:Untrained
Pistol:Trained
Rifle:Untrained or Trained not sure
Low Tech:Untrained
Demolitions:Trained
Enviromental Training:Untrained
Lockpicking:Trained
Electronics:Untrained
Medicine:Untrained
Computer:Trained
Augmentations to get
Arms:Combat Strength\Microfibral Muscle (in Shifter)
Legs:Speed Enhancment or Run Silent
Subdermal:Ballistic Protection and Cloak
Torso:Enviromental Resistance and Regeneration
Torso 2:Power Recirculator
Cranial:Spy Drone
Eyes:Targeting or Vision Enhancment
Aug Upgrade Plan
Combat Strength\Shifter Microfibre Muscle Level 4
Enviromental Resistance Level 2
Run Silent or Speed Enhancment Level 4
Ballistic Protection Level 1
Spy Drone Level 4
Regeneration Level 2
Cloak Level 4
Vision Enhancment Level 4
Power Recirculator Level 3 or 4 it depends
Skills Throughout the game
Heavy Weapons:Useless
Rifle:"Usefulness debateable" because Low Tech and Pistol seem to be the best weapons skill, and its really only useful for the Sniper Rifle which only becomes a real option once Silence and advanced Skill
Medicine at Trained for the 60 HP from med kits could be useful
Swimming needs to go no higher than Trained for faster swimming and longer 02 Meter best when paired with Aqualung for Exploration
Demolition only need to be a trained to Grenades don't blow right in my face
Enviromental Training has its uses but it can be skipped
Lockpicking and Electronics only need to go to Advanced since Master is overkill Lockpick is more important than Electronics if using Dragon Tooth Sword
Computer:Essential to get to Master
Pistol:Advanced or Master one of the best Weapon skills works for both Lethal and Non Lethal
Low Tech:Advanced or Master one of the best weapon skills works for both lethal and non lethal
Here is my planned mod setup
Kentie's Launcher
Deus ex 2.0
Shifter
Maybe Biomod
Deus Ex Enhanced Direct 9 Version
Deus Ex New vision
Project HDTP and Beta Releases
I have few questions
I am currently using a similar mod setup but I not sure about everything one I have to note is the following I am using Shifter yet several Shifter features don't seem to be working like the Skill System which I actually like,I know some people consider it unbalanced but I always found the way the vanilla game handled skill points to be stingy.I have not encountered any unique weapons which is a shame since I was looking forward to acquiring the Blackjack Baton, and the inability to use Aug Canisters containing an Aug you already have as an Aug Upgrade.
A couple of things to note
1.I plan on using Deus Ex 2.0 since I don't care for some of the changes made by Human Renovation
2.I am definately using Shifter is their a reason the Skills System,Unique Weapons and Aug Upgrade using Canisters for Augs you already have.
3.I also definately using New Vision and HDTP with the updated stuff
4.I like of what Biomod does in regards to complmenting Shifter but if I were to use it would I lose the feature I like that I mentioned before.
5.I am also using Deus Ex Enhanced Direct 9 version, since I cannot use that or Unified Deus Ex my monitors resolution 1600X900 I meet the Width Requirement but it requires the height to be 960 or more and mine is just short.
So in the spirit of ending this post already,I have some final questions. What do guys think of my Character Framework and Mod Setup and what are your thoughts regarding them?

If you want both Biomod's changes and Shifter's features, get Nanomod: (
http://www.moddb.com/mods/nanomod) http://www.moddb.com/mods/nanomod . It lets you choose what features you want.
I disagree with your assessment of the skills. Heavy Weapons for instance is useful if you use them a lot in combat and want to be able to handle them better. It also makes the GEP gun handle less like a clunky rocket launcher. I don't think the Computer skill is mandatory, plenty of times I can just search around for important login information and use it. But what build you make is upto you.

Nanomod sounds amazing this is first time I am hearing about it.I wouldn't say its useless it just not as good Pistols or Low Tech since Rifle and Heavy only have one weapon really worth using respectively unless they fit heavily into ones build. The GEP gun is perfectly usable for it most widely used purpose "World best key" with no training what so ever.So I guess what I really meant in regards to heavy weapons its unnecessary to raise at all when I consider my favorite playstyles or the build and playstyle I have in mind.I must say thank for leading to Nanomod I think I am gonna enjoy myself greatly with this in my game.:D

Your character build is similar to how I played the first time. I think investing heavily in pistols is a bad idea unless you are going full non-lethal and need to be good with the crossbow. But for non-lethal, you might want to go higher in demolition to better use the gas grenades. If you're going lethal, higher pistol skill makes the early parts of the game easier, but the investment hurts you later on. Pistol ammo becomes scarce and they don't do enough damage against harder enemies.
Going for heavy weapons is a more challenging option early in the game since ammo is scarce and they take up so much inventory space. But heavy weapons skill pays off later once you start using the plasma rifle.
IMHO, if going lethal, it's best to invest early in rifles and get rifle skill to advanced as quickly as possible. One reason is that you have an opportunity right at the beginning of the game to get the sniper rifle which remains a powerful weapon throughout the game. The other reason is that a fully upgraded assault rifle is just deadly in the hands of a rifle master and there's plentiful ammo for it. People tend to overlook the AR because it's near useless when you first get it.
I agree with you that lockpicking is more important than electronics, because lockpicks are more scarce. I usually go to advanced on lockpicking and leave electronics at trained. Medicine is only useful for a run & gun playstyle or if you don't get ballistic protection. When I play more stealthy, it's not really needed. Computer skill is definitely not "essential", but I usually go for advanced to bypass turrets. Master is nearly pointless except for reading long emails.
Regarding the augs, I like targeting over vision enhancement because there is a 10% damage bonus for each level you upgrade targeting. I don't like spy drone because it makes it too easy to take out bots. It feels like a cheat. I also don't like using cloak too much for the same reason, but I usually get it just in case. I would rather put the upgrades into ballistic protection than cloak.
I'm not a fan of Shifter, but YMMV. I think it unbalances the game, especially for a stealth run. Therefore, I never tried Biomod. I prefer vanilla or visual enhancements only.
Have fun.

One quick last question I have game all installed and modded up but for some reason I can't get the HDTP working.
Here is my setup
Deus Ex from GOG
Deus Ex 2.0 Unofficial Patch
Kentie's Launcher
Nanomod installed directly into the systems directory
New Vision
HDTP Beta 2 installer
I also have HDTP.u disable via data directorys because Nanomod has built in support and it will conflict if another .u file is active.Nanomod and everything works fine but its not recognizing HDTP so none of the new texture and things are showing up.What am I supposed to do in order to fix this.

You're better off asking about this on the Moddb page. I would suggest trying to reinstall without Kentie's launcher, as that changes the directories and can make some mods not work properly.

I got to it to work all I had to was move some files from the Deus Ex\HDTP\Systems folder over to the Deus Ex\Systems Folder and viola everything works.Man if only setting this up was as easy as setting up Thief 1 and 2 has become since New Dark, thanks to people like Voodoo47 and DJ Riff.
