I built a PC from some parts from one of my friends computers. I had to buy new mostly everything, but used his processor, heat sink, and ram. The thing was working great til the other day when I unplugged it, and moved it off my computer desk while I was fixing a friend's computer.
So my computer won't turn on now at all. Tried a new power supply, nothing. What would make a normally kick ass pc stop from starting again? I've been using it often, and has never even hiccuped.
It's an AMD X2 processor (3200 I think.)
1 GIG of 400 MHz DDR RAM.
Tried 2 different known working power supplies.
Motherboard is some chinese thing, but has seemed to be flawless in performance. Can't be assed to open it up and look right now.
Tried to see if the power switch was broken, and it's not.

This could be any number of things...
Have you checked the obvious yet... switch on the back of the psu, or the fuse in the mains plug, or the switch lead going to the motherboard is plugged in...

Last time I had something like this, it was a fault with the computer's power-on button. Had to open the cabinet and turn the PC on by touching the proper jumpers on the mobo with a screwdriver. You might need to do that if all the other connections are proper.

^^^This. Sounds like you knocked a wire loose. Did you bump it or turn it on its side?

Checked power with 2 different power supplies that are known to be working.
Checked all wiring hooked up to motherboard and peripherals.
Tried the jump thing for power button, no change.
Tried to start it while hooked up to motherboard with a paperclip on the green and black wires on the ATX supply. The power supply jump starts while not hooked up to motherboard, but when hooked up to motherboard, jumping the green and black doesn't start the powersupply. Sounds like a short on the motherboard or something?
This has me stumped, as it was fully functioning the day I disconnected it. I did lay the computer on it's side, but not roughly.

Hmm, Ok.
Remove all the PCI and PCIE cards and the memory and the IDE cable/s from the motherboard and see if it starts... if it does then replace each item one by one to see which one was causing the mobo not to fire up - my bet is it one of the memory sticks, but that said, just swapping them around could also work (that worked for me a few months ago with some G.skill modules I had)
