This either means that:
A. They're spending some more time polishing it so they can deliver a better game. In which case we should be happy.
OR
B. It's practically finished but Square's market research says that sales will be better if they release it a bit later. In which case we should all NERDRAGE. RIGHT. NOW.
BETTER NERDRAGE JUST IN CASE :mad::mad::mad::mad:

I honestly can't say this surprises me. I never expect a game I'm looking forward to to actually stick to the first "precise" release date they announce *. For whatever reason it is that they come up with, the release being pushed back is something I find almost inevitable. I'd much rather just stick with the "it'll get here when it gets here" way of thinking.
* P.S: I don't mean that statement to come across as if I'm claiming that this only happens to me and I'm all "oh yeah just my luck!". I'm sure it happens to a lot of games that I'm not interested in as well, but I have no knowledge about those because I don't follow the news for any of them.

Maybe they wanted to go head-to-head with Portal 2.
Nah, Portal 2 will be pushed back to 2012.

Or, y'know, the market research delayed the project, allowing the designers to work on some much-needed polish. Good things rarely happen for the right reasons. :p

HURRRRRRR
Though admittedly in TTLG pseudo intellectual speak that might translate to "DURRRRRRR".

I didn't even know it was supposed to come out next year

needs more mission DLCs and Clothing packs. Also marketing showed that people want a Nuke-Launcher that Eidos forgot to incorporate into the game. It's being worked on right now. Also the last 2 missions will be removed for a addon later that they will call expansion and it will explaining the game's ending.

mothra you're so full of crap but this time ha ha ha you are so spot on. Well maybe not but I appreciate the humorously wrapped cynicism because fuck knows the industry deserves it.

Maybe now they'll listen to the fan requests and make all the third person 'razzle dazzle,' that they've strapped onto 1st person, optional.

They really won't :p
And anyway even if they did it would probably still not fit well into the mechanics because i am willing to bet that the stealth system is rather underdeveloped in that respect in terms of sound, darkness and line of sight having a precise effect or feedback.
The originals stealth was very much inspired by thief even if it was not overly polished. In the second game, it was polished a bit more (at least from the demo :o still not played it properly yet - on my ever growing list).
The latest one seems a huge departure. People who don't use stealth in deus ex won't be disappointed but for me it's basically like they are gutting that option from the game. Particularly with the quicktime event takedowns. Now i know that knockouts in the original could be finicky but there was a certain art to it and although annoying that it didn't work on everyone, this worked well in providing balance and adding to the pros and cons of a violent or non-violent approach - something that the game did well.
I really do worry about this nature of the game as it just gives the impression they don't kind of "get it".
As does the complete lack of subtlety in the trailers. Deus ex was never completely subtle, but it was nowhere near this over the top. I suppose you can tell that the makers of final fantasy have a hand in them.
I am sure the game will have good things about it but it really becomes a shame when you think what it could have been.
